Upcoming 2009 Long-Awaited Releases

Postby Ivy » Feb 8th, '09, 17:13

Friday the 13th
Searching for his missing sister, Clay heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins that lie in wait behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing hiding under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has with the help of a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history - the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake armed with a razor-sharp machete…Jason Voorhees.

Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen
The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.

Fast and Furious
Heading back to the streets where it all began, two men rejoin two women to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert. When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Connor. But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmaneuver him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what's possible behind the wheel.

Final Destination Death Trip - 3-D
On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave...escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts turns out to be quite the exciting year. First off is the arrival of a new teacher at Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn, who is a bit more useful to Harry than he realizes. Next, Harry obtains a Potions book which used to be belong to the very mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Harry finds that the Half-Blood Prince's ancient scribbles are written along the margins of almost every page, giving Harry advice on how to improve greatly on his Potions work, and also teaching him a few helpful (and dangerous) spells along the way. Amidst this, Harry is starting private lessons with Professor Dumbledore, during which Harry learns the dark secrets of Voldemort's past, hoping that they could use these secrets to find a way to defeat him. Harry's year gets even more stressful with the suspicious actions of Draco Malfoy, who has been sneaking around the school doing, so Harry assumes, Voldemort's bidding. Harry quickly becomes determined, and slightly obsessed, to find out exactly what Malfoy has been up to and putting and end to it. Yet, during this time, Harry and his friends go through daily life, busy with school work, Quidditch, (in which Harry has been made captain of the team) and of course, romance. Ron has found a new girlfriend, Lavender Brown, a perky (if not obnoxious) Gryffindor student, and Hermione is not happy about it. Ron and Hermione's friendship takes a toll throughout the school year and Harry, as usual, is stuck in the middle. Harry, meanwhile, is facing a romantic dilemma of his own: he realizes he is falling for his best friend's sister, Ginny Weasley, who is unfortunately dating Harry's classmate, Dean Thomas. Harry's pining for Ginny and Ron's hilarious relationship with Lavender give this story a large dose of reality.

Ice Age - Dawn of the Dinosaurs
After the events of "Ice Age: The Meltdown", life begins to change for Manny and his friends: Scrat is still on the hunt to hold onto his beloved acorn, while finding a possible romance in a female sabre-toothed squirrel named Scratte. Manny and Ellie, having since become an item, are expecting a baby, which leaves Manny anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for when his baby arrives. Diego is fed up with being treated like a house-cat and ponders the notion that he is becoming too laid-back. Sid begins to wish for a family of his own, and so steals some dinosaur eggs which leads to Sid ending up in a strange underground world where his herd must rescue him, while dodging dinosaurs and facing danger left and right, and meeting up with a one-eyed weasel known as Buck who hunts dinosaurs intently.

Review
These are some of the long expected movies that fans all around have been inticipating. The 6th installment in the Harry Potter Franchise for example was supposed to be released in November 2008, then it was pushed back to May 2009, and now it's due to hit theaters everywhere in July 2009. Ice Age 3 is also expected to hit theaters July 4th, 2009. Fast and Furious, the 4th movie in the Franchise, should be hitting theaters in March, and I know the girls can't wait to see Vin Diesel back in this hit series. Final Destination 4 which is being released in 3-D form is going to be killing theaters everywhere in August - I love the storyline, however, every 3-D film I've come acrossed, I can always find atleast one fake scene, I hope with a 43 million dollar budget we can get our money's worth. Transformers 2 is due to explode in theaters in June, hopefully I won't leave the theater deaf, I already have horrible hearing, it doesn't need to get any worse. And finally, Friday the 13th, which is slicing its way into theaters this Friday, which just happens to be, Friday the 13th - how original right? But it does give your skin some goosebumps when you're actually watching it on the same day in the movie. These are what I thought to be some of the most anticipated releases of 2009, if I happened to forget one that you think deserves mentioning, please PM me and I'll add a plot summary.

Fast And Furious, because Vin and Paul are both in it, just like the first... And the first one was the best so far, so I'm excited to see the new one..

I like to see the transformers too though, but the rest of the movies are not in my interest

Yeah the long awaited return of Don, Vin Diesel's character is finally making his way back to the Big Screen. But he's gone agaisnt his original thoughts on the films - He said he'd never participate in a Sequel to the original because he thought that it ended perfectly and didn't need a continous, I guess he wants some more cha-ching in his bank account

I can't decide on any of the films! I am a huge fan of each mentioned above, and they all seem to have an excellent storyline and high-paced plot - the exception of Ice Age 3, that's just a cute little movie with excellent punchlines and hilarious scripts. All these movies have been anticipated by fan-bases everywhere, and I happen to fall into every category, and I will be broke by the end of 2009 by buying, going to theaters, and renting the newest 'Hit Releases'. It seemed to me that actors/actresses, directors, and screen-writers, were all getting desperate for a great movie to come along that would gross fans everywhere, but it never happened - from about 2005 to mid-2008, there were some stupid-ass films that were being made. 2009 is finally the comeback I've been waiting for! I just wish the film industry would span it out so I can afford everything! :p

You left out one of the most hyped and anticipated movies for this year...Watchmen :tounge2:. The graphic novel was amazing and Zach Snyder (director of 300) is a decent director (though I'm afraid his inexperience will ruin such a great potential of a movie). But seriously, I'm excited for the Watchmen. Even if they manage to mess up the story (which I'm pretty sure they will) the whole look of the movie is amazing. It's pure eye-candy and I can't wait to go to IMAX for it.

Out of your list, I'd say Transformers 2 because I enjoyed the first one a lot.

Harry Potter, definitely.

I'm really excited about this movie, mostly because it's directed by the same guy who directed The Order of the Phoenix and it was the best HP movie so far. So, knowing that there's a lot of shit going on in this part of the series, I'm really really looking forward and I hope it won't disappoint me :)

I'm looking forward to this one by far aswell, however, I do not like the concept that they've decided on for the seventh and final movie. It will be broken into two parts, the first part released in November 2010 and the second part released in May or June of 2011! If I'm going to see a movie, I want to see the beginning to end in one sitting! It's utterly ridiculous!

Yeah, I'm pissed about that too! It's a one book damnit!! But I also understand the point of breaking it into two parts, although I hate the idea with passion -__-' 6 months of waiting!! It's almost like.. ETERNITY for a fan.. :'(

Hollywood likes to milk a series for all its money's worth.

But really? No one else is excited for Watchmen besides me :(?

Tell me about it, I just hope they have enough respect for Harry Potter fans and the economy to put both parts and extras on one affordable DVD (of course maybe a second disc for the extras), but if they seperate them, that's 20 bucks for each single disc version, and about 25 or so for the special two disc versions, that would be 50 bucks plus tax, I can't afford that right now... :zipped: But ofcourse thats two years away...

Transformers is going to be the most successful movie of 09 imo. I mean Friday the 13th was ok, but it was a horror flick so what can you really expect. Ice Age will do ok, but nothing in comparison to the others. F&F has never been a block buster bank breaking franchise. Harry Potter will probably be the actual top seller, BUT Transformers is going to be a MUCH better movie.
