Summary:
Ever heard of the saying 'Be grateful for what you got'? Well, you best be, because what Dave Pelzer had was nothing to be grateful for, especially his mother. This book tells the true story of Dave Pelzer's childhood and accounts of horrors most people would never even dream of. Made to eat the contents of a baby's diaper, being stabbed by his own mother, who claims he has broken a rule of some sort. His father didn't protect him, his siblings were too scared to receive what he got to protect him. Only a schoolteacher faced the problem after many accusations of stealing from school lunches and coming in with dirty and ragged clothes.
Review:
I've read books of the same sort, and NOTHING compares to the horrors in this book. The fact that it's a true story I think makes it the worst. Also the fact that it's his OWN mother that's making him do these things, because of her alcoholism and other problems. I never cried whilst reading it, but some of my friends did at certain parts. It's the stuff in your worst nightmares, and, if you think you can handle the worst, it's definitely worth the read.
