The Dreamcast was DEFINITELY ahead of it's time...the fact that Sega could've handled their consoles better was more of a reason for it's failure than the merit of the other systems...and on one or two cross-platform titles, it would outperform the PS2 graphics-wise.

it lost money and ended SEGA's business of making gaming consoles.
How is that a success?

breaking it down a little more...
It has a handful of good games, little to none third party support(SEGA fault), No backwards compatibility (in comparison to its main competitor ps3). and I hear you need a shitload of memory cards to save your info. Also the controllers are wack(this is a preference however)

i don't really know too much about it, but my main argument is that it ended SEGA's console business.
Losing money and ending a business.. i have a hard time seeing that as a success.
