I completely disagree with you. I think a bow is a sign of respect just like shaking hands. The two actions mean that same thing. There's no reason for this to even be news. I don't care about the greeting, so I don't see why other people do. The actual meeting is much more important than the way they greeted one another.
So then why is it that when two kings meet they don't bow to each other? The King of England and the King of France would never bow to each other, but Obama should go lowering his head to a dictator? That's the fucking stupidest thing I've ever heard. I'm sorry, I don't go bowing to people who insult the things I stand for and support people who want to destroy the things I stand for. If it was a Japanese leader then sure, if it was ANY leader that didn't do the things he's done then fine. But keeping in mind the history that's fucking stupid.
