I don't like We Made You. It's him doing the same thing but it's not as catchy as Without Me or The Real Slim Shady, and his accent is annoying. 3 AM is a HUGE improvement over We Made You. It sits right in between Way I Am, Kill You, and Kim. But once again, I don't like his new voice. I'm not saying the song is bad: the lyrics and rhymes are amazing and I like the beat. But I just don't like his new voice.

I know it sounds picky to be complaining about a voice, but it's just something I'm not used to and prefer he didn't change. Some people may like it, I just don't.

To make an analogy with the accent:

It's like if you love the Big Mac at McDonalds and then one day they decide to add a new sauce and it throws the taste off and you don't like it as much. Could still be a good burger for some and the same effort+ more was taken into making it, but it's just not as good to a few (I'm kinda hungry if you guys can't tell lol).

Well, the voice issue is just an opinion. Personally I would have liked his voice from Way I Am. It just sounds more fitting to me because of the anger he puts out through those songs. His old Slim voice would have worked well too for the nutty thing. I think his new accent makes the song a little harder to understand . But it's not too bad (We Made You's was much worse IMO) and I can grow used to it. However, I do hope his whole album won't be in the same voice as that.

I'm glad you like his new voice and it's clear this issue is going to be divided, some will like it, some won't. That's just how change is.

You see, Eminem creates character's not just names like Marshall Mathers, Eminem, Slim Shady and Rain Man. They're character's with different vocal deliveries. The voice you hear in The Way I Am, Lose Yourself or Marshall Mather's is his emotional side, his Eminem/Marshall Mather's character. Now if he rapped "3 a.m" in that persona, it would be just fuckin stupid. Vocally it would sound great, as it's his best sounding voice. But the concept would be shitted on because it wouldn't be believable if it was in his Marshall voice, as we all know he's not a lunatic. His Eminem/ Marshall vocal is his emcee/ emotional voice and is brilliant on the right songs, but it wouldn't be right on a song like My Name Is, Without Me or 3 a.m. This song is the first time I've defended Eminem using a strange vocal on these new tracks, because it suited the lyrics and beat so much. It's perfect. On tracks like "We Made You", the accent was at the expense of the song, but on this it actually made it better.

What I expect from Eminem is basically more of the same. Ok, Encore wasn't as good as his first 3 albums, but it was a very good album, with a lot of very good songs on it. With the worry about Eminem's standard dropping very low evident on some of his featurings lately, I think a lot of people would settle for this album to be as good as Encore, but are hoping for it to be Eminem back to his best. I'm satisfied so far with the new releases, as they're better than Just Lose It, so hopefully it's a sign of a better album than Encore. This new track gives me the same buzz I used to get about finding new Em tracks. What the fuck's he gonna say next? What crazy way will he flow to the beat on the next track. You never knew what to expect, except that it would be brilliant, and so far that's been the case, imo.

He could have done 3 AM with the same voice he used on The Re-Up and it would have sounded infinitley better. Lyric-wise and beat-wise the song is fuckin awesome and im more than glad to see Shady returning to his old ways but that fuckin voice ruins it, seriously its extrmemly annoying and he just sounds like a retard.
