Well i don't think Shady's back either.

There is more to posting on forums than just posting things that are positive, "cocknose".

Now, all these people who are saying the video has made the song "better" for them, i think you are deluding yourselves. If you didn't like the song in the first place, a video cannot make the song better for you; all it can do is make you appreciate that they made a decent video out of a song that wasn't really that amazing.

The main issue i have with believing this shit again is the fact that he is trying to portray himself as this crazy, disgusting individual, yet we all know that due to his kids growing up he is also limiting himself to certain things. For example, i've heard him swear once on the 3 Relapse tracks i've heard so far. And this stuff here is pretty tame compared to the old Slim Shady shit; it's focused more on doing crazy multi sequences than actual fucked up shit, which he's lost most of the ability for (understandably) due to him growing up a bit.

In 3AM he talks about jacking off to Hannah Montana and drinking his cousin's blood.
In Kill You, he talks about physically putting bullets through women and hiding body parts in cereal boxes.

There is a difference. He's lost the humour that made a big part of the Slim Shady shit successful.
And that is why i don't really like this song and video much.

Kez..

I personally don't see the difference between the two, i think we're only scrutinizing every fucking line and every reference because he's been gone for so long. During the MMLP days, did anyone ever analyse songs like Kill You? No. Because we enjoyed the fucked up character of Slim, and enjoyed the music for what it was. If you look at the album, there's a parental advisory sticker, so that means swearing. So cool down, he won't make all his songs creative enough that he doesn't have to curse.

And i didn't have a go for not being positive, what i meant was that in a thread about the video, which is a fucking great one, he couldnt find it in him to bite him tongue and praise it, but yet found the time and effort to answer my post in a negative way. That ok for you "Cocknose"? :y:

Kez is right, he's trying to be someone he just isnt anymore. Its not very believable, i hope he just releases deep songs without the psycho killings.

I want some deep songs too, i know what you mean, i've always liked Eminem probably more than other artists because of his diversity in his subject matter and sound. And i don't think he can really grow out of Slim, not only is it his creation, he said that Shady was all the things wrong with the world, the dark feeling you get when something pisses you off and you want to lash out. And a 36 year old in the aftermath of drug problems, a friends death, and a mother dying but yet still managing to make money off of his name, is well capable of getting these feelings.

I'm not saying you're saying this, but i think some people think that because he's not screaming at everything in the world, that he now goes around skipping, picking flowers with a smile on his face. I just have a feeling that his album will always just be a mixed reaction, because so many people expect, and don't want so many different things.

But when has that side of him ever been believable? The Slim Shady persona is, well exactly that.. a persona.

Believable can have more than one meaning.

What we are talking about is the ability to become immersed in the character of Shady.

Stop making assumptions. We're not scrutinizing because he's been gone for a long time.

Everyone analysed "songs like Kill You", subconsciously. That's the reason it was liked.

Negative analysis is always infinitely more verbal, but when people listen to music they are analysing it in their own way constantly. The idea of like and dislike is analysis.

Of course people are scrutinizing him. People are going "he can't talk about that killing shit anymore", "he has to release a Proof tribute", "he needs to stop doing those first singles, they're just getting played now".

I just can't remember a time where we expected things from an Em album. Why not just sit back, find out, and enjoy the music, rather than comparing it to the past. He looks like he's already messing about with voices for Slim, who knows what other ways he's changed the persona in the album.

And people, including me, loved Kill You because it was a funny song, with rapid rhymes. They didn't stop the lyrics and say "wait a second, he's just said he's going to rape his mum". That was just Slim and he could say whatever the fuck he wanted, and we'd take it with a pinch of salt. But now people are too engrossed in "whether he still has it in him", which i thinks bullshit. People should concentrate on whether they like the music when it comes out, not whether Em has suddenly lost all musical awareness and talent.

Again, you are taking what i say impossibly literally to try to make me seem stupid.

They are. I'm concentrating on whether i like 3am or not, not if he still has it, and i just plain don't like 3am.

I liked We Made You.
I liked Crack a Bottle.

I don't like 3am. Why is that so impossible for people to accept without making out we are being over-expectant or otherwise of Eminem?

I wasn't trying to make you sound stupid, to me this isn't really even about a discussion with your opinion, it's just how i feel. And the best way to put across something you feel strong about, is in a literal sense.

And fair do's if you don't like it, there's people that don't, i don't care if people don't like it because that's their opinion, and i repsect it, that's not what this is about. What i was saying is that this album is under the microscope but for once, not just from critics. Fans for the first time are saying how Em should sound like, and what he should talk about. And i personally think that takes away alot of the fun of Eminem and Shady.

At the moment i've liked all 3 songs, they've not been my favourites or anything, but they all have their different qualities respectively.

honestly i don't see this song as him trying to be something. it sounds more like he's making a good story. that's it. he knows we know he's not a crazy killer. so why would he bother trying to say he is? it's just a story. get over it. i don't care if "Shady's back" or not. it's just a good story, who cares "which part of him" said it.

Well the actual video did make me sort of like 3 A.M. more, or maybe that's just my mind playing trying to make me think so...fuck it. I do prefer it to We Made You though.

Lets just wait for what he has to offer us when Relapse is out, having him trying to be someone might not be him anymore but since when was it. He really was/is a shy dude, he talks about these things but is it really him, no.

Although I would like him to rap some more emotional stuff, more than Slim Shady style but I won't say anything else cause it used to be "I can't wait for something new to come out." two years ago, and now that he is we all argue about everything he's doing. Take a break, sit back, relax and see what happens when Relapse is out and then the whole forum can explode.
