I agree with everything Kez said (except liking Encore)
and TruEmFan I'm surprised you actually listened to the album.

Eminem is back indeed.

This album is just great man...it's just so damn great....

Seriously, I don't see how people could be disappointed in this album, unless they're just crazy or some shit. And then there isn't much that will please them anyway, so fuck it, right? When May 19th comes, I'll have a copy of this cd in my possession at all times of the day, I think.

This is definitely the return of Shady.

I noticed that he says "pussy" like in every other sentence, lol. I hope that's not sexual frustration, lol. I can help out with that if he needs it... :shifty: ;)

My review:

"Dr. West" (skit) - Dope
"3am" - Wack
"My Mom" - 50/50
"Insane" - Not bad
"Bagpipes from Baghdad" - Good (although racist).
"Hello" - Dack
"Tonya" (skit) - Dope
"Same Song & Dance" - Wack
"We Made You" - Wackest
"Medicine Ball" - WacK
"Paul" (skit) - Wack
"Stay Wide Awake" - Good
"Old Time's Sake" (featuring Dr. Dre) - Wack
"Must Be the Ganja" - Wack
"Mr. Mathers" - Dope
"Deja Vu" - Wack
"Beautiful" - Great
"Crack a Bottle" (featuring Dr. Dre, 50 Cent) - Wack
"Steve Berman" (skit) - Dope
"Underground/Ken Kaniff" - Crazy

Horrible album, I don't care what drugs he was/still on, no drug gives the right for an artist to make a horrible album about useless shit and degrade himself like that. Specially after we've all related to his previous albums so much. To me this was a cheap punch in the stomach.

Kez wrote:Well, I was wrong.

This album is fucking incredible. He has by far destroyed any doubts of him having lost it.

This means a lot coming from me, as i had serious doubts about this judging by the released songs. But damn. It's all redeemed. He never lost it at all.

I am seriously under the impression that Eminem has been fucking with us purposely by releasing pretty much the only 3 songs with that accent on.

You ought to see the MSN conversations i had with Anon, Tash, Bar, Omar etc when i listened to this shit. I was blown away.

All my expectations have been beaten and destroyed, and then some.

My Mom is my personal favourite track. Not quite sure why i just love it.

Followed by Beautiful and Deja Vu.

This album absolutely shits on Encore and then pisses on it; and i LIKED Encore!

I can't quite get over it. I don't think i can make any post that details just how good i think this album is. I love pretty much every song. I think 3am and Crack a Bottle are way below the level of everything else on the album, but damn it's crazy regardless.

And yes, i'm still going to buy the motherfucker. Of course i am.

Welcome back, Eminem.

Absolutly could not have said that better, except i liked the psycho mind behind 3 am

Relapse is like a book or a movie which is very well written -in terms of technicality- but the plot/story sucks. I mean 2/3 of the songs on the album sound like a bunch of Papoose songs, they don't make any sense, juts words put together for the sake of rhyming. I know that that's usually Em's trademark, but he did back it up with witty/funny lines, now it's just plain immature imo.
All his fans from back then have grown up, so did Eminem, so he could atleast stop acting like he aint grown up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this album is trash, it's just not what I really wanted from him, Beautifull and Underground are really the only songs that are worth to be called ''great'', the others are just ''decent'' or ''wack'' or just ''meh...''.
I just hope Relapse 2 will contain some songs with a real ''concept''...

This is just a basic overview after listening to the album a couple of times. Still undecided on some shit but im working on a full review atm.

01. Dr West (Skit)
very sick intro. Its like the 'rebirth of shady' that was originally born on the first skit off the Slim Shady EP
02. 3AM (2.5 Stars)
the concept is brilliant (and the video is even better, in fact i'll go as far as calling the video a classic) but i cant help feel it was badly executed. It just seems to be lacking something, Em doesnt really stay on any specific topic plus the voice just ruins it. Disappointing
03. My Mom (3.5 Stars)
Definitely grown on me, the beat is fuckin awesome and Em is spittin on some 'Brain Damage' type shit, just that hook was really terrible, he could have done somethin better than that
04. Insane (4.5 Stars)
Fucking love it. Exactly as the title says. Plain sick song. The middle verse is a little dumb tho.
05. Bagpipes From Baghdad (2 Stars)
Dont really see the point of this song at all and its a pity coz the beat is incredible. I was hoping this would be another White America/Mosh/Square Dance.... oh well. That autotune at the end just cracked me up like a motherfucker
06. Hello (3 Stars)
Just.. yeah... feelin the hook but it just seems like filler. Not a bad song by any means
07.Tonya (Skit)
leads nicely into the next song
08. Same Song & Dance (3.5 Stars)
I WISH he wasn't using the accent on here coz this song is actually pretty sick, not to mention Dre's production - off the wall once again.
09 We Made You (3 Stars)
not bad... typical first single... whatever, it serves its purpose
10. Medicine Ball (2.5 Stars)
Also feels kinda like filler. This song just doesnt seem to fit together.
11. Paul (Skit)
i lol'd
12. Stay Wide Awake (5 Stars)
Lyrically ridiculous, just fuckin wild, demented shit. love it.
13. Old Times Sake ft. Dr. Dre (2 Stars)
the beat sounds like some kind of leftover from 2001 or one of xzibit's old albums. Both Em and Dre just sound uninspired, its just a shit song. Hooks nice tho.
14. Must be the Ganja (5 Stars)
I thought this would be terrible just by lookin at the title but it actually turned out being one of my favourites, it just all comes together so well. Just plain old 'sit-back-and-light-up-a-fat-blunt-in-the-whip' type shit. Fuckin cool, everythings just right. I wish the whole album sounded like this.
15. Mr. Mathers (Skit)
sick
16. Deja Vu (5 Stars)
CLASSIC. love it, love it, love it. Just plain brilliant
17. Beautiful (5 Stars)
CLASSIC. Vert TES like. like i mentioned on another thread i was quite surprised when i read the lyrics and noticed that they're actually very simplistic - not nearly on the same level as Lose yourself or Sing for the Moment, but nevertheless a very very good song and i have a feeling its gonna blow the fuck up bigger than any of the previous singles
18. Crack A Bottle ft. Dr. Dre, 50 Cent (3 Stars)
Em's verse is actually really good but Dre and 50 are just bleh as is the beat and the hook. Any hip hop enthusiast reading this needs to check out the original version featuring Aesop and Del the Funky Homospaien from that WuTang meets the indie culture mix - waaaaaaay better than this. Once again, i guess it did serve its purpose and generated a lot of buzz for the album
19. Steve Berman (Skit)
hahahahahahahahahahahahahah
20. Underground (5 Stars)
CLASSIC. Very MMLP-ish. Fuckin incredible. Best song on the album by miles. I'm thinkin Relapse 2 is gonna sound a lot like this. And that Ken Kanif skit at the end? priceless.

Overall i think this is a good effort from Em. Definitely not his best but most definitely not his worst. I'd put it in 3rd place after TES, MMLP and SSLP, way ahead of Encore. Lyrically Em has returned, his flows are off the wall with insane multi-syllabic rhyme schemes and incredible diction. Dre did a fuckin amazin job behind the boards.

He's gotta stop with the accent plus that Christopher Reeves and Mariah bullshit, those are really the only things that pulled this album down. Also i felt like it lacked a bit of variety. Needed a creative type song like Stan or Guilty Concience - something different. A political Mosh/White America type song would have also worked nicely.

:o I got mentioned by Kez zomg!

I love the album, especially Beautiful, Deja Vu, My Mom and Same Song And Dance. I love the beat on Same Song And Dance, how its psychotic yet playful. I don't think Crack A Bottle deserves to be on this album, at all. Definitely copping this.

Your not the only one... I thought I would need to post a full page apology after bitching about the accent and such- now I think he was just screwing around with us to build up hype and so that we weren't expecting too much, so when it did drop, we would all be blown away...
