He came back with this album, not moaning about everything like everyone expected him to, but with a new energy, a new concept, and the return of Shady. Both those songs if you were going to compare them, stink of Eminem Show. And although i love Eminem Show, he wouldn't have moved forwards, and would be just reliving former success. I know that it's hard for us to understand, because we just want to the music without the experimenting and surprises, but he's the artist, and he's obviously serious about his ideas and progression as an artists through his albums.
Oh I agree that both songs seem very emotional and are similar to The Eminem Show, but him reverting back to Shady isn't experimental at all (I mean, go back to 99% of his songs from 1998-2001 - it's been done); in fact, it shows lack of growth because he seems unsure of what his fans what to hear. And I'm assuming most the records in Relapse aren't made for him because I really really doubt he wants to look back in songs about raping mannequins.
To me, it doesn't seem like Relapse a 36-year-old wants to make. If anything, songs that are more mature and have meaning (Ex. Deja Vu or Beautiful) are the ones that give off the most passion; and it shows through meaning and his voice.
But anyways, I do agree that these bonus shouldn't be on the album; they don't fit at all.
I also like the songs but am glad they are only bonuses for this album. I do however think your wrong about this album showing no growth. He's going back to his roots with his new lyrical skills and flows... Not to mention the fact that you said it's 99% of his songs from 1998-2001.. That's 8-11 years ago. That's a looooooooong time in the entertainment world, let alone the rap game.
