Plastic Surgery

Postby James R. » May 16th, '09, 15:42

What do you guys think about plastic surgery? Is it good, bad, useful, unnecessary? What's your reasoning?

I used to only think plastic surgery was only cool for reconstructive surgery, when it provided serious health benefits, or like if a girl was literally flat chested (there's some type of disorder or smtn where the tits just don't grow and they're literally flat). Past that I didn't think it was necessary. And while I still think reconstructive surgeries and health shit should be the main reasons, it does seem to have some positive effects on some people's mentality.

Overall I don't know. I think the fact that we live in a world where you don't have to be happy with yourself is a little sad. I mean if you don't like anything there's a surgery for it. And then there's cases of addiction like Bruce Jenner (Olympic gold medalist) and Michael Jackson, but I have been doing some research and have found that with things like breast augmentation people who start with a B Cup or less only upgrade themselves to a full C. So I'm really a bit torn. I don't know how I'd feel if someone I knew got PS for just a random cosmetic reason.

Like anything i guess there's no definitive answer. In cases of deformity then clearly it is a reasonable option, but for purely cosmetic reasons? I'm not sure. You can say that plastic surgery is bad and is vain and a symbol of our society that is obsessed with physical appearance, but then people can develop massive psychological problems because of a perceived 'problem' with how they look. If surgery can give them back their confidence and self esteem then why not? On the other hand, people should be happy with who they are because God gave us these shoes, and they should put 'em on and wear em, not go to a shoe shop and alter them.

I'm not a big fan of people running around getting new faces and shit. At the same time if they have the money to spend, and want to, who's to say they shouldn't? :y:

Oh, and getting fake boobs is basically lying.

Plastic surgery is literally a blessing for all those who had suffered from accidents, burns or any other type of accident which could seriously affect their body, as well as for those who suffer from genetic disorders like let's say harelip.
I seen a documentary on american plastic surgeons who went to Chile and performed surgeries for kids with harelip for free. It was amazing, I swear, they performed miracles.
It's useful and it's great that people who actually need it, can sort of turn back the hands of time and go back to their appearance or, which is even cooler, can get a new face and live a normal life.

As for the other type of plastic surgeries, boob jobs, penis enlargements, fake lips and shit like that.. I don't really feel like commenting on it, because it's sick and I don't understand it. Even the minor procedures, why the hell would I want to inject botox inside my healthy body -__-' I mean, if you're lucky enough to be born without problems like harelip or other deformity or genetic disorder, you should be grateful for that. Because out there, there are people who suffer for real. Not because they got 80B, but because they can't go to the park or mall without others staring at them with disgust.

100% agree with that, should be used for its main purpose years ago not the purpose we live to witness today. In my eyes someone that goes to a surgeon to end up looking better is getting a huge ego boost and suddenly start feeling there the shit and that rages me. Last thing we need in the world were living today is good looking plastic made humans walking around acting beautiful and encouraging others to do it just because they feel powerful being plastic. We'll see about that when the lighters are out. I wanna see those plastic sons/daughters of bitches melting!

I don't think that plastic surgery is a bad thing at well, whether its for reconstructive or cosmetic purposes. If someone isn't happy with the way they look, then they have every right to change themselves.

People dye their hair and wear makeup, so getting breast implants or a nose job is just a change in a bigger way. I don't think that plastic surgery automatically makes someone self-centered or vain.

It's easier for me to understand someone getting a plastic surgery because of a serious reason, than someone who get a surgery because they have too small breats. Jeez.. I know people might get upset because they'd like to have a different nose, bigger lips, smaller hips or whatever, but there are ways to make yourself look better, like working out. I know it's not a way to solve all issues, you can't change your genes, but it's like lying to yourself and the world around you. Right now, at this moment, I can say I'd never have a plastic surgery. I can't say I'm 100% happy with the way I look, but I'd feel stupid if someone told me a compliment and I'd be like "yeah well.. tell it to my surgeon".

In my previous post I said it's sick, because sometimes people just go way too far and change their lips, nose, eyes, neck, breasts and everything else and seems like they got enough botox in their body to share it with the whole world.

i have nothing against it..i mean i dont care what ppl do with their lifes and their body..me personally..i wouldt have anything done..but if someone feels bad about any part of her/his body and he/she will be happy if they have work done..who am i to tell them no to do it?
we like it or not appereace is very important these days, like i said if u have a complex and u are sure ur life will be better if u have a plastic surgery then do it..but at the same time..if ure responsible enough to decide to have a plastic surgery thenu gotta be responsible enough and face the results..you like or not.
but one thing is to have a part of ur body done..and other thing is to be a plastic person...boobs, lips, nose etc done. thats disgusting imo

Angelina Jolie's lips :flutter:

And I prett much agree with what Yoshi said, you should be happy with the way you look.

Well if a girl thinks her lips are full enough or her breasts arent big enough that its more distracting from the rest of her than she has issues on her own....I dont see any problem with it....if you get 36 triple M's like the bitch with the biggest tits that might be just a lil problem...
