the more i listen to Relapse, the more apparent it becomes that its actually not that great at all. Good, not terrible but not nearly as good as i thought it was when i first heard it. Still a couple of steps above Encore but it pales in comparison to his first 3 albums.

I still think most of the 2nd half is fuckin incredible, but a lot of this shit sounds forced, there is barely any original content, its cliched, repetitive, the accent just sounds absolutely retarded and a lot of the beats sound way too much alike.

Yep, I'd probably give it 3 stars now. I really hope Relapse II is better than this.

What do people mean when they say shit is "forced"?

I know the meaning of the word obviously, but people keep using the phrase for different things, and i really don't know where they're coming from.

4.5 because I've really enjoyed this album. One or two thigs didn't make it get a 5. Not because of CAB as everybody likes to say. Just didn't feel like it should get a 5 because there're some weak points in the album which don't get that +0.5 Overall it's great!

It's a very good album but a 5 is too much in my opinion, especially since I don't like Hello, Must be the ganja and Same song and dance too much. I gave it a 4.5.

I actually like Must Be the Ganja and Same song and dance... I like how he addresses Lindsey and Britney obsesstions and in his syllable play is great in Must Be the Ganja and great lines in there too, "its not what ya thought/so bout time you wake the fuck up" "starting from scratch and endin up at the end capable of winnin a pulitzer" "dreams are getting fulfilled/ i'm literally getting the chills/spitting at will"

5 for me! best album yet,pure shady! flows are sick as fuck! i could have steeped to a 4.5,because of the likes of old times sake and crack a bottle,if those were replaced by the 2 bonus songs this would have been a masterpiece,well in my eyes it still is!

i don't know a lot of people like him when he is depressed because he puts out more emotional music , but why would you wish one of your favorite rappers to have a bad life just so you can enjoy yours

easy 5...whenever i listen to any album about 20 times through in 2 weeks and still wanna play it, then it's always a 5 in my books.

I gave 4! That CAB wasn't on album and CWYWF or My Darling was i give 4,5.
If on album was Proof tribute song i give 5/5
I'll must wait for Relapse 2. But this is album very very good and Eminem is back!

3, anyone giving it a 5 is a fool. Because we've all heard the 2 bonus tracks and both of them should have been on the album replacing "Crack A Bottle" and one more song, but crack a bottle is a must though, the video/song is just weird as fuck. 5 is a perfect score so no way was Relapse perfect.

i gave it a 3. the cd was pretty good but in realty the whole cd was just the samn shit. every song had the same meaning pretty much. all about doing drugs. he doest tell storys like he use to in his music. i guess he just ran out of shit to rap about. i would have rated it higher if the bonus songs were in the track list.

I would've given it a 5 if there were some more "serious" songs if you know what I mean.
Some of them are real personal but he did them with a comic twist, you know?
If there would've been like 2 or 3 tracks in the same spirit as "Beautiful", it would be a 5, no doubt.

I gave it a 4, that's a very good score imo. The Eminem Show would've been a 4 for me on first listen too, but graduated to a 5, it's obviously a classic now. I don't think Relapse is quite on the same level. There's nothing on Relapse as good as Sing For The Moment or Till I Collapse, or Stan or Kim. He has some sick twisted stories on here, like 3 a.m, Stay Wide Awake, Insane and My Mom. But nothing concrete that you would nail down as genius. He has really brought the fun back in the lyrics, he's bringing back the intelligent multi syllable rhyming, the manic flawless flow. He's just missing a few great songs or stories. That's what stops this being a masterpiece, maybe 2 brilliant songs. It's much better than Encore, which I would give a 3.5 even now (Encore hasn't graduated any higher than that, but is definitely an above average album)

Infinite: 4 (Awesome lyrical content, but short on production quality)
The Slim Shady L.p: 5 (Brilliant album, great concepts, lyrics, flow, beats, everything)
The Marshall Mathers L.p: 5 (Instant Classic, sick storytelling, awesome flow, lyrics, contraversial genius, etc.)
The Eminem Show: 5 (Amazing songs, lyrics, topics, flow, beats, hooks, etc. Total classic)
Encore: 3.5 (Some great songs and some very good songs, let down by some really bad songs)
Relapse: 4 (Dope lyrics and flow, sick imagery and highly entertaining, but lacking 1 or 2 truly great songs. Will graduate to a 4.5)

I think if he just had like ONE maybe two more hit songs on there it would be considered the best album. OVERALL, it is my favorite though.

Hits are not what make a great album, it's all about the content. Lady Gaga can fuckin have an album full of hit's, but it's still a piece of shit if you ask me. An album is a portfolio, you put all of you on it, you can do a wide variety of styles like Eminem does, or you can put out a concept album where the whole album has a specific theme or idea. Hits don't necessarily give a song "classic" status, although it does help. Some of Eminem's best songs were not hits or even singles. '97 Bonnie & Clyde", "Kim" were not even singles, but made their prospective albums legendary. Granted there were some brilliant hits on those albums too, but on Relapse their is nothing with a sick concept like these. Yes, "Insane" is warped and funny, but it's unbelievable, whereas the forementioned tracks were instantly shockin and genius. These are the types of songs I miss the most from Eminem. I still love the new album though, it's a great album, time will tell though if it's a classic or not.
