I was just wondering how common it is for people in the US to get caught using Limewire? Is there anything that you can do to be any safer??? Just wondering.. I've heard that you can get like a $2000 fine and a year in jail

The chance of getting caught are slim to none. That being said I'd recommend try to download from other sources.

I used to have Limewire PRO, not anymore cause I got a new laptop so I'm starting all over again. I don't remember get any viruses. Well actually 1 or 2 I must of got.

Actually, you're all misinformed.

First of all, it depends immensely on what you use the program for. Obviously child porn will have you arrested within days, as compared to music downloads which rank in the odds depending on content and artist (55 million users have LimeWire, 17 thousand have been caught, fined and prosecuted accordingly). If you plan on leeching from Russian torrents, your chances are higher due to hidden child pornography related content. This is how they transfer files, by hiding attachments in games and movies. Applications for cellphones, ringtone related apps and otherwise "free content" has a high chance of containing malware, which can increase your chances of getting caught.

Your best bet is to use Warez sites, which with enough search knowledge have everything p2p programs do. Use only American torrents that have many seeders and comments to confirm it's activity, and most importantly... Pedobear is NOT, I repeat, NOT you're friend.

Well I haven't installed Limewire since I changed computer. My friends use BitTorrent which I guess is good enough, I'm likely to get that.

Yeah you won't get caught using limewire. I didn't. But it fucking murdered my computer with all of its bull shit, so I'd suggest downloading from something else unless you wanna pay money and use Limewire PRO or whatever.

Yeah me too. That was the first downloading program I had but I got rid of it cause it was really slow. I remember I'd been downloading Matrix Revolution for a few weeks and when it got to 99.9% it just stopped and remained there for another month. That pissed me off so much I went on to Limewire. I'm off that one now as well.
