No Beautiful is incredibly overrated, i liked it when i first listened but theres not a lot to it, it feels like its off Encore (probably cus he wrote it nearer the time), the lyrics are pretty corny (3rd verse) the monologue at the end is trying to replicate Lose Yourself or something and the hook is awful with Ems gawky voice, id be embarassed listening anywhere other than my bedroom. The beat and sample is good though and the first verse is nice.

Deja Vu however has a ill beat ill skit before it, ill rhyme scheme and lyrics and its insightful andmuch more profound and much more to it than Beautiful which is a song trying to be meaningful and doing a ok job but Deja Vu is just way more sophisticated.

Dunno why you think that. It's a great introspective track that tackles the issue head-on without being self-pittying, self-loathing or sluggish.

It also avoids the contrast of being show-bizzy and it glosses over nothing.

It's an honest vital track to the album and not only does he sum up the entire issue and his absence in just three verses, he still manages to do it with fantastic wordplay, self-deprocation, wit and pure realism. The chorus is classic.

It's many things but certainly not overrated.

Deja Vu is about him almost dying, and he puts no emotion into the song at all.

Deja Vu is way better lyrically and is pure class.

But Beautiful is good because of it's simplicity. He doesn't need to get lyrical on it, that would detract from the track's power. It's powerful and it's got longevity. The chorus when he comes in "...they can all get FUCKED" is awesome.

WTF?

Did "getting lyrical" detract from the power of Lose Yourself, Rock Bottom, or Sing For The Moment?

Deja Vu >>>>>>>>>> Beautiful.

While Beautiful might sound awesome it has absolutely no form of lyrical complexity plus the whole 'walk in my shoes' theme is far too cliched. I still love the song but its kinda more like 'When I'm Gone' as opposed to Lose Yourself. Nice concept but its lacking in the lyrical department. Big time.

As for Deja Vu - thats shit is an all time motherfuckin classic. best song on Relapse, no question about it.

^ i still disagree with you man

you say universal, i say cliched. And i still think if it had been more lyrically complex it just would have added to the overall quality.

I can see why you like it though, it is sick fuckin song. guess we'll just agree to disagree

beautiful by far..

the theme and the point his trying to get acrossed his powerful. people need to understand how vital that message is "be yourself"

yea it does sound lil corny, but the whole theme is about being yourself and do what you wana do, not based on other people's judgements.

even he says it in the end, "even if it sounds corny" I think he made it lil corny on purpose just to get his point acrossed.

eminem has philosophical concept that I would never thought of.

I can't stand Deja Vu, I can't see the brilliance in the song as you all see it. Hate the beat, hate the song, Beautiful for me is a lot better BY FAR.

beautiful for people who like watered down rap to appeal to a pop audience

deja vu for those who like harder rap with something less corny sounding to it

not saying the message is corny but its corny sounding.

em put a lot more emotion into beautiful than he did into deja vu, personally i think deja vu is the best track in the album and beautiful probably 3rd.. both of them are fuckin amazing lyrically, each one is for a different kind of person i would assume but they do have shit in common.

What i loved a lot about beautiful was the end quote where he goes "To my babies, Stay Strong, Daddy will be home soon...ect", that shit was hard but Beautiful's just the type of song that got boring really fast for me, some lines in the song also seem kinda useless/extra but the song was ill either way..
Deja Vu, the whole song just got to me, the one think i didn't like about it was its beat, the beat i agree went fantastically with the song but i just didn't like it lol, this is one of the few songs i listen to on relapse still and never got bored of or didn't like, this is probably the most perfect song on relapse..

Not by a long shot but DejaVu wins this..
