Critics on Relapse

Most of the ratings given to this album is IN GENERAL lower than Encore's ratings even though, as a whole, this album is better than Encore. (in my opinion) because it has less filler tracks and each track is entertaining unlike some of Encore's pointless tracks. (One Shot 2 Shot, Big Weenie)

anyways, why is it lower? thoughts?

i think its because since eminem has been away for so long and so much drama happened to him, people expect his next album is be pure classic. they expect him to "mature" and address topics that people WANT him to address. they expect this album to be so dope because encore wasnt up to lots of expectations. they expect his COMEBACK album to be dope as fuck. but eminem said that he doesnt care what critics think. he just cares about him and his fans criticisms.

For Example...

Pitchfork Media (4.8/10) for Relapse
Pitchfork Media (6.5/10) for Encore
Pitchfork Media (9.1/10) for The Eminem Show

PopMatters (3/10) for Relapse

Slant Magazine (2.5/5) for Relapse

Worst of all...

Robert Christgau (B-) for Relapse
Robert Christgau (A) for Encore
Robert Christgau (A-) for The Eminem Show
Robert Christgau (A) for The Marshall Mathers LP
Robert Christgau (A-) for The Slim Shady LP

All of Robert Christgau's reviews for his previous four studio albums were all very good and in the A's range. Why does Relapse get B-?

I don't even think it has anything with the music to do.. (cause if it has, they are obviously retarded) but it's presumable something to with that he's not popular any longer.. well he is just about get. I guess they don't like him anymore.

Maybe Em already delivered all they needed from him.. and now they are just tired of him.. :confusion:

or.. fuck it's confusing.

Like already said...I think this criticism has nothing to do with his music anymore at all.. . It's all about "he isn't the new promising artist" and he is like ancient to all and "too old to rap"...And don't get me wrong, I don't think this way, I think this album is a fucking masterpiece...The critics just look he as a person behind the scenes and don't like him... although Many artists couldn't have done as great album in the same situation as Em... and damn it truly is wrong...
