STANNERY

Postby Acid_M » Jun 13th, '09, 17:33

*Hope i posted this in the right place*

The reason i joined this forum is because i am a HUGE Eminem fan (a Stan even) so i wanted to come on here to have intelligent discussions regarding dude's music.

It seems i was mistaken.

Of course I understand "if you dont like Em then what the fuck are you doing on an Eminem forum" BUT not only am I a fan of Eminem but more so a fan of HIP HOP (a culture of which Marshall Mathers is a member of, you cant deny that) and the amount of dickriding and Stannery that goes on in these forums is ridiculous. Its like Em is Dr. Dre and all the Stans are The Game. Y'knowmsayin??

Lets get one thing straight: Eminem is just like you and me. He's said it on numerous occasions. And he has a special gift - he's a genius when it comes to rapping plus he's got a great ear for beats and he can write a good hook (which is probably one of the reasons he's become so tremendously popular) but he is not a fucking superhuman. He makes mistakes - just like everyone else. I cant think of one rapper who's catalogue is flawless - Eminem included.

Here's a couple of issues i have with Shady:

1. Encore was garbage.
2. Relapse was better but not all that great (in MY opinion)
3. i hate that godamn accent he uses these days, i think it detracts from his music in a big way. It just sounds stupid
4. That Teabagging incident at the MTV awards was STAGED and he LIED about it afterwards. I just dont see any possible benefit he could have gained from it. If you wanna believe him thats fine but i just dont.
5. The continual Christopher Reeves and Mariah references are just old as fuck now and not funny to me
6. He'll never top the work he did from 1996 - 2003. The majority of his shit post ''03 doesnt compare.

Those are just a few. Don't get me wrong though - like I've mentioned before Em comes no. 2 for me after Nas (GOAT) but even Nas has had his fair share of fuckups (Nastradmous was a piece of turd). all I'm saying is people (especially on this forum) should be a little more open minded. Some of y'all really worry me (Sac_JB told us he apparently started crying when he couldnt download 3AM... wtf???) Yeah i've also listened to Em for days on end but thats just depressing man.

People saying KRS one and Rakim could never match Eminem? Get the FUCK out of here. KRS and Rakim are pioneers of Hip Hop and without them we wouldnt even have Eminem. The game will always be greater than the player, no matter how good you are. That is a straight up FACT whether you like it or not

On the opposite end of the spectrum you get dudes coming on here and constantly saying Em's wack, saying he doesnt deserve the respect he gets? BullSHIT!! Why the fuck are you even here then? Em is top 5 dead or alive and if you dont like it then go post on a Shawty Lo forum.

Speaking of which - Wayne vs. Eminem is a topic on everyones minds, i know. But the truth is - thats all just OPINIONS. There's no denying Wayne has put out some great stuff (I thought C3 was classic and yes, better than both Encore and Relapse.) There must be a reason Wayne is as big as he is right now. I still think Em's the better emcee but Weezy F. is not to be taken lightly.

So from all this you can probably tell im a fan of hip hop more than anything else. From Rakim to Lil Wayne to Eminem to Jay Z - i love it all. But I believe one of the many reasons Nas stated that Hip Hop is Dead is because of the fans.

Thoughts? Comments? Queries? Lets stay civil and open minded here.

First off please refrain from typing "Y'knowmsayin" ever, ever again.

Only person who thinks he's flawless is SacJB. Everyone else can admit he's human. I don't see much of that "He's superhuman" going around past SacJB.

All of your issues are your opinion, so I don't know what your point was with that.

Most of the people on hear like Eminem, but like other rappers more. I mean look at Sajjad. Dude has one of the most extensive rap tastes I've seen in quite some time, and if you frequent more than just the Eminem section you'll see that a LOT of people hear are "hip-hop fans" and listen to far far more than just Eminem. Oh and if someone wants to call him the GOAT then that's their prerogative and you have no right to tell them they're wrong.

Rakim and KRS are pioneers, but there are some people, like me, who think they get a little too much credit just because of that. Rakim bores me, and KRS should keep speaking and stop dropping albums. It's just his time. Some would say I'm crazy, but again. That's opinion.

Stans and Haters. Every pro has a con and every white has a black.

I don't see how Lollipop, Got Money, and a plethora of other whack to average songs makes a good album, but hey if that's how you look at it then so be it. And Wayne used to be hot. C1 and C2 and his mixtapes (to a point) were great. But now he just makes pop shit that people can dance to. Hence his popularity.

And yeah I blame the fans for every successful whack ass rapper. Flo-Rida, Wayne, Soulja Boy, Mike Jones. People are buy their albums and attending their shows. If you ever hate a popular product you have to blame the consumer.

So the teabaggin thing you think was staged or not? You said it was staged and then you said he lied about it afterward. He said it was staged, so I am confused about him lyin about it. Not to mention a writer from mtv said it was staged, there is a pic of Em and Bruno together and Paris Hilton said they asked her to do it.

I agree with you about Wayne. I don't know why people act like he sucks so much. I don't like him but I don't deny he has skill. I saw someone saying they don't know who is better Soulja boy or lil wayne on here and I wanted to smack them.

I hate when people are generalizing, "every em fan is stan"..fuck that..it's like "every German is nazi" or "every Muslim is terrorist"..em invented that word ( stan ) and if we can make definition of it, it would go something like this:Stan is die hard ,highly obsessive fan!..OPSESSIVE,witch includes buying and collecting everything em puts out(Cd's, t-shirts, posters etc), imitating em, sending him mail etc..
now,if I like something most fans don't (Encore), that doesn't make me a stan..it means I got lil different taste, that's all..

No it's a judgement of how long they've been on the forum. People with a smaller number of posts obviously joined more recently and seeing as how an album just came out it would make sense that they were ALL about Eminem. People who have been hear for a while have had more time and opportunity to display and explore a wider range of musical taste. This is one of those situations where a little common sense and logic goes a long way.

I agree about the tea bagging thing. I think the stunt went wrong & he genuinely got pissed but 2 save face he said he got us. As for Encore I loved it. Still do. I'm not goin more into that, God knows I have in other topics. As for Lil Wayne :o How the fuck can u understand what he's sayin'? And I ain't yellin at ayone, but that's the question that comes up in my head everytime. His old Hot boys style. I like. This? no. :n:
His hip-pop is fuckin' annoying to me. He doesn't make sense & them people say oh yeah the word play...r u freakin serious?
How could anyone put him & Em 2gether? They r not on the same lyrical level.
As 4 the stan thing to, yeah, I hate when people say just cause u like something they don't u're a stan. Hello aren't we on the board? Everyone here waste time to see shit that Em does out of his life!! So if u call another person a stan, u too. That's truth. This freain board crashes over that right? LOL
I found myself looking at this place less. I post a bit less to unless it's a game or someone just says something I don't like. But I don't bash, cause everyone has an opinion & I respect that. :) :flower:
If I were to die murdered in cold blood tomorrow would you feel sorrow, show love or would it matter?

I posted 14 times and joined before people with 500 to 1000 posts. I just don't post a lot, so does that mean someone with 1000 posts has better taste in Hip Hop?

Jesus Christ it's just a way to judge how long someone's been here. People that have been hear longer (especially in times right after a new eminem release) tend to have more posts and then to be people who have gone past the Eminem hype and talk about other artists and preferences. It's not a disrespectful statement.

Holy shit... didn't expect such hostility

all i'm saying is this: i am finding it difficult to have a rational and reasonable discussion with anyone on this forum regarding Eminem. It feels as if every time I give an opinion on something there's someone there to disagree with me and call me an idiot.

And so, such you all are a bunch of dickriding Stans, I'm outta here. Peace out bitches. I'm gonna go join another forum.
