Some Sunni Muslims still do this simply because of false information given to them by people who have the power to make up something and have followers to believe in that information given to them, except there is no authenticity. In the Qu'ran it is not commanded or approved what so ever and that's why the majority of Muslims don't abide of "Female Circumcision".
