He's a disgrace to actual music, but he's VERY GOOD (not a genius) at appealing to his demographic. I don't like him, and I don't like most of his songs. But he does HIM and he doesn't try to be what he's not, and it makes him money. Unfortunately he does it at the expense of the image of REAL hip hop.
