All of you saying 2pac sucks or Eminem is above 2pac should be slapped and forced to take a rap class. Eminem wouldn't even accept the award, he knows 2pac is THEE rap symbol. Id be offended as a fan of rap and both of them if Eminem accepted the title. Eminem is no doubt an amazing rapper/ song writer. But he will always be #2 behind Pac. Noone can touch what 2pac did in life or death.

Tupac is great, but people love him because he has become a symbol for rap music partly due to his death. Pac was a great poet, good actor, and generally a deep type of dude. But the fact is that he was NOT the best rapper. As far as an all-around artist, he was most definitely the best artistic person in Rap. But not the best rapper.

Eminem said it once in an interview way back in the day...I think he said something along the lines of Tupac being his favorite artist, but not necessarily his favorite Emcee.

My .02 it could really go either way. I think Em might get it though.

If it's anyone else, I'm going to need some persuading...

First and foremost lets get ONE THING straight. I do NOT hate Pac. Dude was my avi for like 2 yrs lol. I love Pac, but what I don't love is how other, better rappers get overshadowed by his legacy mainly because he died. If Pac were still alive today then he'd most definitely have a great legacy with great albums and great songs...

HOWEVER

I feel as though people like Eminem, Jay-Z, Biggie, Big Pun, Big L (I'm guessing if he had more time to drop more albums), and Nas should ALL come before Pac (except maybe Big L).

So when you ask me who I think the greatest rapper ever is I can't answer that question because I don't know. From what I've heard reasons to think Pun should be GOAT, I've heard songs that make me think Jay, others that make me roll with Em. I just can't definitively decide on ONE to be the best. What I can do however is tell you who isn't. Pac isn't. Snoop isn't. To me, Rakim isn't either.

The thing about Pac is that he got famous because of an image. One he made up mind you.

Jay-Z is my favorite rapper ever trailed closely by Biggie, Nas, and Em. After that it's Pun and Big L. Any one of them deserves that spot more than 2 Pac. Oh and I'm not gonna front on Biggie either, had he not died LAD wouldn't have sold so well, but he was more talented than 2 Pac for the simple fact that a compelling argument can be made that Biggie is the best with about 1/10 the material released as Pac.

I know I didn't really answer your question, but like I said, I really can't cuz I honestly don't know between some of the legendary rappers out there.

Thing is about Pac, he isn't that good lyrically but the emotion he puts. I feel it! In Me Against The World I'm always like "Damn!", I actually feel the struggle. I don't think there are many other albums which bring that in to me.

styles are too different to compare but i think slim has it. eminem has everything 2pac had muscially but eminem can be both a punchline rapper and a storyteller all at the same time, 2pac couldn't.
