Hip Hop is....

Postby mcZu » Jul 15th, '09, 10:48

...heading in the right direction.

The Seventh Seal is stated for release this fall, confirmed by Rakim himself in a interview with Billboard.

His single already leaked, Holly Are You

Slaughterhouse self titled album is stated for release August 11th.

There first single The One already dropped, the video aswell.

Lupe Fiasco's Lasers album is gonna drop this year, his first single Shining Down already dropped.

Gangstarr's album is rumoured to drop this year, Eminem's Relapse II aswell, Fabolous is doing his thing with his newest album Loso's Way, Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 is gonna drop this year (hopefully), J Cole got singned to Roc Nation, Drake is doing his thing and the underground is still doing what they do.

So overall Hip Hop is doing quite good. People should stop bitching about the state of Hip Hop, it's doing fine.

Yeah I forgot to mention Fifty's Before I Self Destruct, Royce's The Revival EP, Street Hop and The Bar Exam 3, Joe Budden's The Escape Route EP(Prelude to The Great Escape), The Great Escape (which will probably drop next year) and Mood Muzik 4, Crooked I's Pig Face Weapon Waist EP, The Boss and probably a new Hip Hop Weekly, Joell Ortiz's Free Agent and the Nas/Damian Marley album.

And probably some others I forgot. Overall Hip Hop is doing great, the direction it's heading seems promising.

I don't think hip-hop is dead, I never did. It just went through a drought, but a lot of older rappers are coming out and showing that you can still be REAL and sell records. Like you said about Jay and Rakim. I mean who's more seasoned than them? I got high hopes for both albums.

Eh, you probably already know my feelings on Slaughterhouse, but I think that's another album that can get a good buzz without being all pop shit.

Loso's Way is going to suck ass. Dude talkin about some bull shit. And this is coming from a Fab fan. He needs to get back on his "Breathe" shit instead of makin us "Throw it in the Bag."

But naw with Drake (who drops some hot shit from time to time) and J Cole (who I think could be HUGE) on the rise hip-hop has a bright bright future.

Yeah, exactly. The mainstream will switch streams if the likes of Jay, Rakim (if you consider him being mainstream...) and Nas bring out new albums.

Eh, you probably already know my feelings on Slaughterhouse, but I think that's another album that can get a good buzz without being all pop shit.

Lol, yeah. Slaughterhouse is a good thing for Hip Hop, even if teh group fails to deliverl.

Loso's Way is going to suck ass. Dude talkin about some bull shit. And this is coming from a Fab fan. He needs to get back on his "Breathe" shit instead of makin us "Throw it in the Bag."

Couldn't agree more with you. I always said that Ghetto Fab>Loso any day of the week. For some strange reason Fab's mixtape game is lightyears ahead of his albums. But that might be because his lable forces him to be more commercial.

Word.

If your refering to Lasers, I know where your coming from. But still... I got high hopes for that album, the quality will hopefully be far from flaky.
