I'd say the end of the East Coast/West Coast war was the start of the New School with P. Diddy, DMX, Missy Elliot, Big Pun, Fat Joe and Eminem.

Which one do I prefer? Well it obviously has to be Old School to me. If I look at all my songs at least half of them will range in the early 90s. I just don't feel the New School as much at all to be honest. The real Old School from the 80s tires me a bit but not as much as the New School so I stick to the 90s a lot.

2Pac, Biggie, Wu-Tang, Raekwon, GZA, Nas, Gang Starr, Big L, Ice Cube, Snoop Doggy Dogg etc... Those are my era.

True. Early early as in Soul Intent but Infinite also falls in this category which is a dope album but I'm not counting it, counting some more notable artists of that era. I forgot about Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.

It depends where you draw the line. I mean Jay started in the mid 90's, Nas started in the early-mid 90's. Eminem was late 90's. So all the people that are active and hot now are basically just veterans. Even Wayne was a 90's artist. So I guess old school

At the moment I consider Old School before the time Hip Hop had a turnover when Pop Rap started chartting more and that was late 90s.

I don't consider Jay-Z old school cause he just started right at the time when for me at least new school started. Nas instead is an old school artist because he released Illmatic from that old school era but obviously he's new school as well. In fact, he's more new school due to the fact that he's released 6 albums or so after and 2 albums before if you get what I mean.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just don't know where to draw the line, so it's a really difficult question for me to answer because most of my favorite artists are right on the line. Nas, Jay, Biggie even came in at the tail tail tail end of the "old school" era I suppose. Shit's tough lol :sweating:

Yeah, I usually base it on the year 96-97 but for how long are we going to base it on that, that's the question.
