Bad rap doesn’t bother Eminem

HE MAY be known as one of the bad boys of hip-hop music, but Marshall Bruce Mathers III — better known as Eminem or Slim Shady — doesn’t seem to let the label bother him.
The award-winning rapper, record producer and actor has been accused of causing Mariah Carey sleepless nights because of two songs he recently released that insult the singer and her husband, Nick Cannon.
But controversy is something Eminem is used to, even when it comes to members of his own family.
In 1999, just a few months after the release of his first album, Eminem’s mother sued him for slandering her in some of his songs. In the end, she received 1600 in damages after demanding 10-million.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Jonathan Ross, the 8 Mile star (who also acted alongside other rap artists, such as Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Ludacris, in the 2001 film The Wash), confessed that he often considered suicide while he was battling his addiction to drugs.
His alcohol and drug problem is said to have started when he was a teenager, but in 2002 Eminem claimed that he had sobered up — only to check into a rehab centre in 2005 because of an addiction to sleeping pills.
Tonight, in one of the first interviews he has given since the release of his two albums, Relapse and We Made You, a few months ago, the 36-year-old father of three reveals more about his colourful life.
Prior to these two albums, Eminem had been on a musical break for three years.
“I just wanted to pull back from the spotlight for a little while so I could reassess my whole career,” he said on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.
“I ended up in rehab in 2005 and I needed some time to figure out where I was going in my personal life and careerwise.”
He wrote songs during this time but said he did not create anything good enough for an album .
In the MTV Base interview tonight, Eminem says more about what else he has been up to in the past few years, and what exactly happened between him and Kimberley Anne Scott (whom he married and divorced twice).
He also goes into detail about what he has planned for the future and discusses his relationship with Andre “Dr Dre” Young, the musician and actor Eminem often refers to as his “mentor”.
