I'm afraid if you google best rap albums and go to their lists, MMLP will RARELY be in their top 10. Maybe once or twice. MMLP does not even deserve to be in top 50, if you really listened to hip hop. Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul is better than MMLP in general. SSLP is around MMLP's level, basically, but it's even included in top lists LESS. The Eminem Show is not in top 200 rap albums, no matter how much you like it. It's a fact. And if you listened to Nas enough to know he is an amazing rapper, you would NOT say his rapping gets boring easily. Seriously.

Im a Stan basicaly who thinks noone comes even close to Eminem even if you would show me the difference in skills or what not, im not obssesed with him, dont have his cloths dont want to be him, dont have posters of him on my wall or backgrounds or w/e but in my opinion nobody and i mean nobody could even come close to eminem in music hes just that good.
But i do want to say that i respect Nas alot hes like in the top3 rappers who i would name the best, and still i only like several of his songs, his sound just doesnt attract me even if his lyrics are off the hook i still wouldnt be able to bump a whole album of nas and same would go for jigga, while eminem on the other hand could spit utter shit i would still listen to it aslong as the flows good, i most of the time look at the flow first and then at the lyrics to judge a song, maybe thats where i fuck up, but if i would look at the lyrics first, i would prolly say nas is better, but since i dont its EM.

Oh and i listend to hip hop before i even knew who Em was, just thought id point that out

I understand what you're saying. I used to love Eminem a lot too. I mean, he has songs for everyone and they're mostly all entertaining. There's serious, down-to-earth-this-is-my-life-and-it-sucks songs, angry, i-hate-my-life-fuck-you songs, goofy, i-dont-give-a-fuck-if-you-hate-this-track songs, and just lyrical dark songs.

But the problem I have with Eminem is his style of rapping. I mean, he is overall a very well-rounded rapper, but I don't like the way he always bitches on about the same thing. We know you hate your wife, Mr. Marshall Mathers in 2000. We know you love your daughter. We know you are addicted to drugs, hell, we knew this 4 years ago, and you still have songs in 2009 talking about how addicted you are. The subject content is just meh. And I think his beats could improve. I could really do with some DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and RZA beats! But they probably wouldn't work wonders on him like other rappers because of his unique rapping style.

Get it right: I'm still a fan of Eminem and is looking foward to what he will do next, but Nas, overall, is a MUCH more consistent rapper then Eminem. He seems to have fresh topics to talk about each album: religious concepts, story concepts, urban life concepts, violent concepts, and "hos and bitches" concepts. I appreciate Eminem tends to stay away from the "hos and bitches" raps, but I really rather him make one about, seriously, prostitutes. Maybe not, on second thought. It would sound disturbing...

Never gave Paid in Full or Follow the Leader a good listen, man ftw are you on,I`m 100% sure that I listen to RAKIM more then you do,so don`t tell me I never gave a good listen to those songs, after all Rakim is my top 3 fav rapper, right after Pac and Em.I never said that Nas is bad its just that Pac and RAKIM are better then him,Pac maybe ain`t if you`r lookin overall skill, but he sure did more impact on this rap music then Nas(dont get me wrong Nas did amazing impact wit Illmatic, that album influenced many rappers),and Rakim is much better then Nas in every way,hes the one that made Rap the way it is,and Rakim after 20 years in rap game,he still has it(just listen to Holy Are You,its better then Nas`s late stuff, you cant tell me that Untitled was good)

i doubt anyone will read this...lol all well

eminem for many reasons...

well start with...

eminem always has better beats
eminems flow is near perfect on every song...nas has the worst flow in rap IMO
eminem can rap about anything..nas is limited....
eminem is much more creative
nas tries to hard to seperate him self from mainstreem
nas is pretty boaring...he can have a very good 20 track greatest hits.....

but for the most part his cds boar me

im done
this sig is DOPE!

Re: Eminem vs. Nas

Postby yoshi » Aug 25th, '09, 19:37

Seems like I missed alot here..

First of all - hands down for da.relapse.lp :b:

Anyways, I'd say Nas. I started my 'adventure' with hip hop from Eminem and he'll be always in my top.. let's say top 5, but so will be Nas, and he'll probably get the top spot. Why?

Nas is.. a real artist for me. He's way more sophisticated than Eminem, like da.relapse said - he can rap about anything. Religion, politics, ghetto life, music, love, storytelling.. Anything. And he's fresh, even though on 'Untitled' the moaning about Afro-Americans might get a little bit tiring after a while. Still, I think his albums are way more mature than Eminem's, especially when we consider what SSLP and let's say.. Stillmatic were about.

I'm not denying that Eminem is a great artist, but for many people Nas is the God's Son. He's one of them, he knows the street life, he created sort of a 'divine' aura around himself which, for most of hip hop fans, makes him way more credible than Eminem, who - yes, I will say it - still enjoys burping, farting and shoving gerbils up your ass on his albums. Call me a person without sense of humor, I don't care, but seriously - for me, Eminem lost alot of.. credibility? and respect by releasing shit like that.

I don't remember seeing SSLP or MMLP on any of the higher places on the top lists, while almost every Esco's album can be called a classic, 'Illmatic', 'Stillmatic', 'Street's Disciple', even 'Hip Hop Is Dead' and includes legendary tracks like 'NY State of Mind', 'Rewind', 'One Mic', 'Get Urself A Gun', 'Street Dreams', 'I Gave You Power'..

I think what defines Nas is his class, his sophistication but also a cockiness at the same time, a bit of this murky vibe and a great dose of respect for the past, while Eminem, although also on a very high level, lacks exactly almost all of the above.

Youre right (most of the time). But thats what Eminem is. Its either you like him or you dont. Thats what makes him so special. I like Nas, and i think hes a great rapper. For lots of people he is just average, or good, or "not bad", or great, or like "i listen to some of his stuff" etc. But Eminem... There are people who hate his guts and want him to die, and there are people who think of him as a genious or the best thing that ever happened to rap. thats it (well, there are always minorities). Plus, hes not afraid to speak about anything. For christ sake, the FBI was tappin him after he said that shit about dead president! No rapper did that before.

What Im sayin is, EMINEM IS BETTER THAN NAS! Tha song Renegade is the proof.

Thats all I have to say.
