Is Em at the prime of his career

Postby Fa-Q » Aug 30th, '09, 04:28

Reguardless of what you think of Relapse or what you expect of Relapse 2, Em has layed 3 dope tracks since then. With warning, chemical warfare, and forever I think if he's not at the primw of his career he's as close to it will ever be again. What do you guys think and when do you guys think he was at his prime?

8 Mile and TES was his peak. This may be the closest he will ever come again though, assuming he spits on R2 like he is post-Relapse. The Westwood freestyles, The Warning, Forever and Chemical Warfare were all some hot shit.

I bet Jay-Z is sitting back laughing at Kanye, Drake and Lil Wayne.

Chemical Warfare was terrible. And yeah, The warning and Forever were hot but two dope tracks doesn't make you at the peak of your career.

A lotta people consider the MMLP to be his best album, and with all the controversy and critical backlash, the MTV exposure he got, and of course, the epic Grammy performance with Elton John, that era may have been his prime. Lyrically, right now might be his prime since his rhymes are on a different level, at least looking at it from a technical standpoint.

However, in the overall picture, I think many will agree that 2002-03 was definitely Eminem at his prime, both critically, commercially, and artistically. He released TES which showed a much different side of him, with revealing songs like COMC and Hailie's Song. It was more personal, less "gimmick-y," and overall, a great album perceived by both the fans and critics. And then of course there was 8 Mile, which was a huge risk for him, and it paid off. Again, it was perceived great by both fans and critics, making a lot of money at the box office and winning an Oscar. But it wasn't just the mainstream pop culture that Em won, he also captured the "streets" when he signed 50 Cent. Followed by the beefs he had with Murder Inc. and Benzino, the epic cover on XXL with Dre ad 50, Em was no longer seen as just the white boy with skills. EVERYONE was listening to him, white, black, hispanic, rich, poor, male, female, young, old. I think during those moments, he captured the most demographics in world.

everything I didn't feel like explaining :)

I think he was at his peak right after MMLP and right before he got arrested. He wrote a couple of the best songs from TES then, including Sing For the Moment which is one of his best songs ever, then when he got arrested he slowly started declining. But now he's slowely rising back up again.

His peak year was 2002. At that time he was at the prime of his career due to the release of TES which was a huge success and followed by 8 Mile and it's soundtrack.

he made Soldier, Say Goodbye Hollywood, Cleaning Out My Closet, My Dad's Gone Crazy since his arrest. all good songs!

& he wrote LOSE YOURSELF after his arrest! his best song, in my opinion.

Yeah, but none of those tracks compare to what he made before the arrest.
