Jayz grows with blueprint 3

Postby Tash8 » Sep 2nd, '09, 20:31

does anyone feel this way? he's constantly growing with his music, which is what makes him soo great...

you notice on BP3 how he was playing handing off the throne, to these new days... and then pays respect to all the rappers who have come up since he's become "the best rapper alive" like on A Star is born.. and young forever. it's kind of like his Endgame, thats what it seems like...and if he were to retire and his last song ever was Young Forever, that would send shivers down my back...

bp3 wasn't great of an album, it was good, but it was an album necessary to close of his entire catalogue... i'm not saying he's retiring either, i'm just saying he's gotten to another level where he's reflecting on his career rather than trying to build one (like drake) or maintain one (like lil wayne)... and he's saying Nas and Eminem are at that level to (where their reflecting on great careers) that's why those are the only two he mentioned..

this is a bit all over the place, but after hearing this album 2 more times, i've gotten weird vibes from it.

I pretty much agree with what you said. You can clearly hear that he has matured and he no longer has that hunger in his voice anymore. He has gone from Reasonal Doubt to this.
Skills wise; the Jay catalogue has declined, however, Hov seems to have matured.

Yes, he has grown.

No, he has not grown maturely in his raps.

Yes, his company has grown. :p

I mean, I respect Jay-Z a lot with his music, don't get me wrong here, he's on my top 10 list of emcees, but I just feel like Jay-Z talks too much about how much money he makes.

With all these people criticizing rappers about how they talk about hoes, cash, and cars, Jay-Z started this rage along with Raekwon, people. When Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... came out, it basically introduced, partially, Mafioso rap music, the style of rap where the rapper talks about drinking Cristal with several girls on either side shooting it out with niggers. Jay-Z popularized it even further more with Reasonable Doubt. So this new age of rap content is thanks to Jay-Z.

Jay-Z is still a legend and better than those out there.

I think he could stop talking about his riches and get a little personal into his life like "Song Cry." To me, some of his later raps are too lyrically simple.

And wtf is the point of that exactly? What good does that do for hip hop? I mean if his so matured to make proper hip hop music then fuck off and retire.

Lol. Such an angry outburst of XRay.

We need the diversity, but not overdone, in hip hop.

Could you blame me? Been waiting for an album from any one of my fav rappers but nothing. Relapse was a flop to me, Blueprint 3 was a flop, don't think I can take anymore of this "growing" bullshit.

Blueprint 1 eats this although this is a decent-enough album.

Blueprint was a classic, in my eyes, mainly because of the production. The lyrics... could've been better.
