Because he's Eminem and thats one of his trademarks. Its almost like saying "Why is Michael Jackson obsessed with his Sequin Glove?" or "Why does Hov wear a Yankee fit-it so much?".

His Pop Culture singles are apart of the artist that is Eminem. On some real stuff. Why would you want him to stop? As long as the single isn't shitty and gains excellent publicity, whats the big deal. WMY didn't get major buzz. One reason is because while its "rhyme-crazy" its not comparable to immediately brilliant songs like Without Me. Give me another Without Me or a Real Slim Shady, and i'll be very happy.
