ok. the eminem & jay-z debate is interesting. here's how i see it.

Eminem - 5 number one albums, about to be 6. Has been commercially active in the game for 7 years (4-year hiatus)
Jay-Z - 11 number one albums. Has been commercially active in the game for 13 years.

do the math. eminem is roughly putting out a #1 album every year & a bit. so is Jay-Z.

do the logic. any future eminem album he puts out will go #1.

now the question... will eminem make it to 11 number #1 albums? if he's really prolific, yes. he's running out of steam, though.

So, it can be said Jay-Z has more longevity as an artist than Eminem. More things to rap about. He has more fuel in the tank.

But, on the other side of that coin (you guys like my corny metaphors?), fucking LOL @ the guy who said MMLP = The Blueprint. That is fucking blasphemy & you know it. The Marshall mathers LP is a hiphop classic & one of the best of all time, definitely top 3. Reasonable Doubt is also a classic. & eminem is part of the reason why Blueprint is so good (he produced & featured on, wait, murdered on Renegade)

but i prefer eminem. MMLP & TES > Reasonable Doubt & BP

When you said MMLP = blueprint is blasphemy, that's a fucking lie. They're both classics. Hell, the Marshall Mathers LP isn't in ANY rapper's top 15 rap albums, word. It's a fact and you know it. No MC has Eminem in their top 15 of albums. Reasonable Doubt is a defining classic, and undoubtedly better than MMLP. Please, Black Album wasn't mediocre. Before you make claims like that, actually listen to the fucking album. Did you really listen to Reasonable Doubt before you claimed THE EMINEM SHOW was better than it? I doubt it. We're not arguing who is a better rapper. Jay-Z and Eminem are both great MC's and to argue which is better would actually be a legit discussion that would be interesting to participate in.

We're talking about which rapper has the more complete catalog. Jay-Z got 11 albums. Eminem got 5. Jay-Z got two UNIVERSALLY-AGREED classics from critics and street people. Eminem got one classic and it's not undoubtedly accepted as a classic (although I think it is). Jay-Z got a bigger catalog than Eminem, no doubt, in terms of discography. This ain't a debate about who is better.
