Comps fucked up need help

My computer's tripping out. When I turn it on, it works, goes to the desktop as usual BUT there's NOTHING on the desktop. Nothing from the owner is opened, only the system, local network, and local service files are opened. I can't do shit, can't control shit, can't open shit, unless I open the task manager and then run a new task and open files from there (which is what I'm doing atm). I don't know how this happened. All I done was close my anti-spyware and then after that, "explorer" closed aka windows closed. I just want to know if there is a way to fix this other then formatting my pc, which I don't want to do, cause I always do that shit and lose all my shit so I don't wanna lose my files. So please if you know what's the problem, and how I can fix this without formatting my PC then please do explain how. Cause I can't afford to lose my files again.

Install a new OS (windows)in the other Hard drive which is not your currently windows installed and after that log into that new windows and run your tasks again

I got an antivirus, antispyware, and a firewall. Can't access any of them atm lol so a scan isn't an option.
