I wanne know how you americans feel about the health care system in america.
1. How is it now? How is it for poor people?
2. What do you think of what Obama is planning to do? Will it be better or will it be communisme?

Well, I don't care really what you're like on the inside and I just really want you to come to bed with me. Would you do that if you could? Even if you were just average on the outside (but not fat) I could like you if you sounded smart.

We're the only Western country of our size to not have universal healthcare, I believe, and we spend more on our health care than any other country--except perhaps Canada--and a large percentage of Americans don't even benefit from it.
The "Communism" argument against Obama doesn't make any sense. At most it's socialism--which isn't viewed as a bad thing in most other places in the world (see Europe)--and it's only dealing with medicine. Obama is pushing a Government Option though, not Universal Healthcare. The difference is, with the G.O., there are still health insurance providers, which I honestly don't see as being sufficient compared to the Universal Healthcare that he should be pushing for.
Alot of the opposition to government-run healthcare stems from the extremist right wing, driven by fear of things that just aren't true (death panels, etc) by shock-jock media like Fox News.

AbramIsaac wrote:Death panels? Really now? I didn't think that rational people believed that nonsense. End of life counseling doesn't equate to a death panel. I believe that would be more like hospice service than anything else. BUT, that's not the main issue here.
In 2007, here in the U.S., we spent an average of $7,290 per person on health care--16% of the gross domestic product. In Canada, they spent 10%, the British spent 8.4%, and the Japanese spent 8%.
So, as far as spending, we spend more than our industrialized peers. What about our quality of health care? The World Health Organization ranks us 37th in the world. That's awesome, I can see what you mean by competition in the health care industry spurring innovation. BTW, our rank puts us just ahead of Slovenia--makes sense considering the fact that they are just a tiny bit less advanced in the area than us.
On top of everything else, since insurance coverage is oftentimes provided through American's jobs, there is little need for strong competition to bring premiums down--after all, business can afford such premiums at the sacrifice of salary increase for workers--and since Americans tend to change jobs every five years, preventative care isn't something that is exactly encouraged. If American's had one health insurance provider, preventative care would be something akin to an investment, but since jobs are changed (along with insurance providers, from job to job) it is an investment that may benefit the competition.
As for the need of more doctors and hospitals, consider the fact that doctor's malpractice insurance is another reason health costs are so high. In France, doctors usually pay under 1,000 dollars a year for malpractice insurance, and medical school is less expensive. In America, doctors can typically pay tens of thousands per year.
If Republicans were to open their eyes, perhaps they would be the ones to change parties.

think of it this way, the government is making schools teach about masturbation and other sexual shit to kindergarteners, it was in the news a few months ago. and anyone with a brain and common sense knows that five year olds don't know anything about sexual stuff, all they know is they have skin down there and pee comes from it. that's it.
