cause if you're askin' - why is hip-hop dead?
it's a pretty good chance you're the reason it died, man
it's a pretty good chance your lame ass, corny ass, is the reason it died, man
you don't give a fuck about, you don't know nothin' about it
you want this paper, be a hustler
you a hustler, you ain't a rapper
Nas pretty much said it all. It's not about the lyrics anymore. It's not about the positive vibe. It's not about being the best. It's not about saying a Big Daddy Kane quote the fastest. It's about money, having your own energy drink, clothing line or any other kind of shit that, at the end of the day, brings you money anyways.
When I listen to people like that, I really feel like hip hop is dying on me. I can't make people listen to Nas, Lupe, Talib or Apathy because they don't appreciate the flow or lyrics that give you chills when you hear them. I have no fucking idea how can a normal human being get excited about the shitty ass Birdman, whose nickname is as dumb as his lyrics on some garbage beat by some garbage producer.
Iono, maybe the very reason for this state of hip hop is that kids DON'T actually understand what's Lupe or Nas about -
And the lyrics are garbage what the fuck is he talking about - which is quite shocking for me, because for example Nas should be someone they could relate to, especially the Afro-Americans. I can agree on Lupe, because he's so complex that sometimes even I have to listen to the song few times to get it, but that's the beauty of rap I for me, although I admit it's way easier for me to understand Lupe or Talib than to understand the point of "Crank Dat" - I honestly say, I don't fucking know what does that mean and I'm pretty sure my English is on the advanced level. I have no fucking idea.
The only way we can make it better is to support good artists and hope that Birdman will get stroke by a lightning very soon.
