Its just not their kind of hiphop. They dont listen to hiphop for the lyrics, they listen to it for delivery the beats and the bragging. If nas spits on a hard club beat screaming his lyrics they would prolly love it.
Hiphop is dead in some ways i guess, but not in all.

The problem is that they do not know what Hip Hop is. All they about it is what they see on MTV and hear on the radio.

I guess not, so no.

who the fuck is birdman? lil wayne .. ?

nas doesn't interest me at all, i've heard lil wayne more than nas. lil wayne ent even that bad, he has nice wordplay and is pretty clever sometimes, even eminem acknowledges this, but i don't have his albums or any of his solo songs. tbh i can't say much, 'cause i'm not exactly what you call a 'rap fan' i have not heard many rappers, like rakim, nas, canibus etc etc and i have no interest in hearing them whatsoever.

And why not?

This describes pretty much 80% of the kids at my school.
Its all about blaring beats from your car, trust me. Though I'm different... :y:

i listen to music to chill out. i want to relax, and i don't want to hear rappers rhyming etc. i like real music more than rap. i mean, anyone can rap, for example, look at this board, everyone is an aspiring rapper, making REAL music and singing takes a hell of a lot more talent, with proper instruments, not little loops and computerised music. and proper songs are better to listen to. but that's just my opinion, like i said, i'm not a proper rap fan, i appreciate real music more.

Then you should give more credit to the producers, 'cause everone can rap like Souljah Boy etc, as long as thye got banging production and good quality. I don't even consider that good music, you as a music fan should know that. But that's just my opinion.

Listen to any song produced by Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind. You can tell he puts so much time and effort into his songs.

It is not. When someone thinks that Nas is garbage it's ignorance.. even if you have an opinion, you should atleast acknowledge someone's skills.

i'm not a fan of him, does that make me ignorant?

No. I'm not a big Tupac fan, but I can agree that he was one of the most important figures of hip hop culture. I'm not into old school rap anymore, but I can acknowledge it was the golden age of rap music. Of course it's the matter of opinion, but then again - if it was only the matter of opinion, what would be the point of albums reviews in XXL or The Source? There would be none. No point in critics sections in the newspapers all over the world and no point in debating stuff.

I don't really like Biggie, I tried to listen to his stuff couple of times, but it just doesn't appeal to me. The thing is, I'd never say it's garbage - how could it be, if it's been quoted so many times and classified as a classic hip hop album by not only millions of fans all over the world, but by the biggest hip hop heads? I mean, come on, those are the people who create hip hop culture, they know stuff. It's not only the matter of opinion, but also the matter of respect.

Not being a fan doesn't make you ignorant in any way, it's stating stupid opinions that makes you an idiot. :y:

Fuckers call Lady Gaga GOOD MUSIC. Holy shit :(

And definitely, producers get way too less credit for what they do. Good beat makes the song imo. Look at 50 Cent. He'd never have made it if it wasn't for catchy beats. Not the best example, there are better producers than Dre, but you get the idea. :p

Of course, you can have great songs with raw beats (MF Doom), but a melodic beat usually makes it easier for the listener to actually enjoy the song.

True. I still think that lyrics are more important than the beat, but that's 'cause I'm a fan of lyrics. Rap does stand for rythme and poetry, so the lyrics should be the most important factor in Hip Hop music imo. Although without a good beat a rap song would sound shitty as hell. A good balance makes up what we Hip Hop fans perceive as real Hip Hop I suppose. Both should get as much credit as they deserve, I think they do get that. I mean, everyone who knows Rakim knows Eric B, everyone who knows Eminem knows Dre etc.. Hip Hop fans do know about the likes of Preemp, J Dilla, 9th Wonder and so on.. So I think they do get credit, but not enough.

I'm a huge fan of lyrics too. I love the feeling when I listen to a song and hear a line that is so sick that it makes me wanna tag it on my wall (despite the fact that my mom would bury me alive :p ) and stare at it for hours..

cause this is C-E-L-P-H demonic symphony,
listen to the hell we make,
in a year before your kids 10th birthday came,
you didn't have to wait for candles on the cake to see the nine flame

I fucking love that part of 'Seven', I been crazy over this song lately lol it's great.

I meant the less known producers. Premo or J Dilla, they get alot of credit, so does Dre and Eric B. I don't have a good example right now, but alot of beats used by AOTP ('Seven' has a sick beat) or Apathy are fucking dope. Madlib's beats are great. Hi-Tek makes awesome beats. And people get excited over Timbaland.. I'm not saying he's not good, but really, I heard better.

Yall just christmas acts must be the secret santa.
My reindeer aim neer pierce ya with the antlers."

The beat is insane on that song, i wrote a song to it actually. And i love the beat on Bloody Tears too. Insane.

Haha damn right, the one I quoted and this one are one of the best lines from 'Seven'. Lots of good beats on that album, mind sharing your song?

You just earned +50 points in Yoshi's Coolness Scale :shifty:
