Rakim is a fantastic lyricist, no doubt. Along with Eric B., they form one of the dopest DJ/MC combinations of their time and released Paid in Full, which still stands the test of time and I still bump to this day.

Well, this is really what I think about Rakim:

He's one of my top 5 MC's of all time. As many say, he's your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.

But, in my opinion, he is a little overrated.

Don't get me wrong here. He is an amazing lyricist with a calm, methodical flow which is relaxing to hear. But he gets all the credit mostly more because of his INFLUENCE than SKILLS. Yes, he has many classics, but to be called the God MC is a little overrated. There is no God MC, let's get it straight. There is no absolute best rapper out there. It's purely opinion.

And as with 2Pac, lots of people hear that lots of people like Rakim, so they just say they like him even though they don't really know his music. It happens a lot on YouTube and it pisses me off for real...

The problem I have with Rakim is he lacks a certain emotional depth to his songs that some rappers like Biggie and Eminem have... It just can't give me that "Edgar Allen Poe" effect you get from reading some of Poe's works, if you understand what I'm saying. But he is dope, word.

How about Big Daddy Kane? :smoking:

Damn, Worst Fears Confirmed by Vakill is dope. I remember a friend showed me that album a few months back and I thought it was awesome. :smoking:

As an MC, Vakill is great, but in some places, he could improve.

Ice Cube? I listen to his shit too little and I really need Death Certificate right now. :(

Word, the Bitch in Yoo remains higher than Second Round KO, in my opinion.

Kool G Rap is like one of the fathers on gangsta rap, man. That second joint he did with DJ Polo is mad ill. Underrated underground artist, but highly respected pioneer.

Hm... Scarface?

(P.S.: What album is better, in your opinion? The Diary or The Fix? Gotta be the Diary, IMO.)

One of the most underrated to come out of the Wu-Tang along with U-God and Cappadonna. He got that "killah" in his stage name too. :smoking:

His solo albums have basically no Wu-Tang family production or guests, but they're still pretty good. Not close to the best to come out of Wu-Tang, but still mad underrated.

Eh... Eazy-E?

Lol one of my all-time fave rappers. Even though I don't really like the new material, he's still in my top 5. TES was a fucking masterpiece, it's a classic and it will always remain the album that made me love hip hop so much. Iono what else to say, because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him.

and Luda is great, great albums, singles, and kills any collab

Chief Kamachi

I know hahaha. I should have said rappers who associate with Wu-Tang often.

Lol there Wu Tang affiliates, and that's enough to say there in the Wu.

Chief Kamachi is alright, haven't heard much of his work tbh cause I don't think his anything special. He dissed AOTP, anyone know if they dissed him back? Cause that was a bitch move for real.

I love Inspectah Deck's rhymes. Most of his verses never fail to disappoint me cause they always 'sound' good. He has to be one of my favorites off the Wu-Tang Clan although that's actually very hard to say cause there's also GZA, Raekwon and Ghostface.

He used to be the better member of Mobb Deep but to me he's now sounds the smae in EVERY song, the punchlines don't hit as hard, delievery became boring to me. Maybe it's beacuse he only talks the same old subjects, it gets repetitve and boring

Excellent storytelling :y: and i love how he's not afraid to express his political views and criticize the goverment. most of his verses are dope and it feels like he never puts unnecessary words in. like.. everything has a meaning, there's no useless bitching. :b:

Apathy is a great emcee. His lyrics are constructed in a great way, his rhyme scheme's are usually fresh and he's versatile enough.. Sadly he'll never blow up.

Black Thought I feel that doesn't get as much attention as he should. He's a great rapper. I love his music with The Roots. :y:
