Not new news, he wrote it during and after his first rehab stint. It's from the period "When I'm Gone" came out, which explains the weak lyricism and voice.

maybe 'cause it was a very personal song and he wasn't ready to show that side of him yet? i have no idea, just a thought. or maybe it was unfinished.

I think I heard it was unfinished, that he wrote just first verse in 2005, and finished the song later on...
