Right, time has changed, he wouldn't sell that much like in 2000 because of these illegal downloads etc.
And that celebrity-bashing isn't that new these days like it was in 2000, too, so no one would care imo.

Never be as controversial, never sell 1.7, only way he'd do that is if he died right before it came out

Because people don't know what real hip-hop is.

It's difficult to defend Eminem's new promotional single, "Taking My Ball", as real hip-hop. Yes, it has lyrical dexterity and complexity, but it's not true hip-hop, in my eyes.

Think of it this way...

If you had a friend who never listened to rap before and you want him to get into the genre, would you want him to listen to "Taking My Ball" as the first hip-hop song? :b:

Okay, but I probably wouldn't start with any Eminem song. I'd start with Illmatic, Stillmatic, 36 Chambers, Paid In Full, etc. Doesn't mean Eminem isn't real hip-hop. I was not a fan of Taking My Ball by any means, but it's most definitely a hip-hop song, while Lil Wayne is pretty much just R&B, imo.

People wouldn't care. He might get bashed in some blogs or be a trending topic on twitter. That's as "controversial" as things get these days.

And yeah, it wouldn't probably even sell a third of what it did in todays world.

I understand what you mean. Taking My Ball isn't real hip hop in the sense of... it just doesn't sound like true rap.

The accent... the ridiculous beat (not in a good way)... the constant ass references. It's more of a comedy song that's lyrically great.
