I'd say if you're in your 50's and you're not spitting anything worth listening to anymore, it's time to hang up the mic.

Age definitely has an impact on the subject content.

As far as lyrical skills and dexterity, probably in a lesser form.

I agree to an extent, but come on, if Eminem was still spitting shit like back in the day but crazier and older you would all still feel it and be bumpin' the track like crazy.

Not really, as long as they still have skill and put out good stuff. But if they get to like 50's and are still rapping, then I think they should stop.

As long as rappers keep it relevant to Hip Hop, because Hip Hop is a hip young culture at heart and your connecting with your audience, it's time to go. It depends on what type of rap you do, for example Rakim does more soulful rap than Jay-Z, who's fairly commercial, Ra can keep on going whilst Younger commerical rappers are gonna oust Jay sooner than later

You know who's 50 now? Flavor Flav. Been to a public enemy concert last year and flavor flav probably got the most passion on stage of every artist :p
And I really don't mind old rappers.. it doesn't have to be bullshit of course.

but for real, when listening to the new jay-z album, who's thinking of that 40 year old rapper? Who's thinking Dre is getting to old to drop detox? (if he ever wil..) We're all waiting for Rakim, he's getting 'old' as well.
It's all about the skills, and deep in our hearts we all know that :p

The older the better. With age comes experience. I hope rappers start going more into their 40s and 50s because they would probably get better and better.
I mean, have some fucking respect for the veterans. You fucking people are so disrespectful, some of you. Age is just a fucking number. It's spirit that counts.
