Jay-Z should have retired after Kingdom Come. American Gangster was nothing special, and Blueprint 3 was garbage. And Nas should probably retire as well. Eminem, we'll see what he has to offer on Relapse 2. Seriously though, nothing pisses me off more than seeing an old rapper put out wack albums. 40 should be a limit though, although I wanna check out Detox.

Hell yeah age is important, we all know young rappers got that heat!!

Wow.
I cannot believe how fucking disrespectful some of you are. Is Megadeth irrelevant to thrash because they're in their 40's? Is Cannibal Corpse irrelevant to death metal because they're in their 40's? Fuck no. Both of their 2009 albums charted. If anything, veterans are better. Most new music just sucks and it doesn't have the balls that it used to.
If you want Em to retire just because of the timespan between his birth and now, that's just stupid. Besides, then we'll be stuck with faggots like Asher Roth. But it would be okay with you because he's under 30. Fuck that. We have just about the worst generation right now, and it's because we don't have any fucking respect for anything outside what's "in". Fucking sheep

Fuck those bitch ass bullshit musicians. Da fuck is death metal? geddafuccouttahere. This a rap forum, we don't give a fuck about other bullshit, we talkin about lyricism. Any motherfucker can remember how to bang on a fuckin drum. Takes skills to consistently come up with stories, street tales, brag raps, introspective tracks, that rhyme well, use good figures of speech, keep you hooked, and even if you ain't ever growin' older, you gonna run out of shit to say sooner or later.

Now that's a little over the line, despite me being biased towards rap over all other genres.

Rock requires instrumental skill and rap requires lyrical skill. All there is to it. :y:

No offense to rock or anything, but this thread is about rappers lol not rockstars. All I said was, if someone isn't putting out good music, then they should retire. Hip Hop relies on Jay-Z, Nas, and Eminem because their top emcees, but if they were to retire because their not putting out good music than that will open a gap for new emcees to feel hungry in order to take those positions and it will be a better outcome imo than it would be to have old rappers not in their league anymore and putting out wack music. Jay-Z should retire for a FACT. Blueprint 3 was NOTHING special, NOTHING beside the cheap business scheme to sell records, and put a "Blueprint 3" in the title and make it seem like its going to be amazing as the first or some what on the seconds level at least, when really it was WACK. Mobb Deep should retire as well as some others that have turned to ape shit.

I mean he's like the death metal of rap with his gore lyrics.
That's just me, with my particular background.

I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to the people who were saying a rapper should retire solely based on their age, without regard to actual music quality.
Jay has retired, he just won't accept it yet...
