What defines a true "Rap" fan?

So, I'm curious, what is your definition?

I just responded to the same topic on the hip hop forum! I'll give the same answer but elaborate a bit. IMO, appreciation of skill and content of story being told without regard to what's "hot", the MC's appearance, age, or how much money, jewels, cars, etc. the person may possess. For example, I've heard girls say they like Wayne because he's fuckable ( I don't get it ), people say Jay is hot because of his cash, having Beyonce, etc. ( how is that relevant to skill? ) and I've heard people around here refuse to listen to Eminem because "I ain't trying to hear no white boy rap". If something catches my ear, that's all that matters.

i believe that a true hip hop fan is someone who lives for hip hop. he is humming beats all day, he is producing music, he is writing rhymes, he is giving props to the big names i.e. eminem, lil wayne, jay-z, as well as giving props to underground, lesser known names. he is wearing baggy pants, an over-sized t-shirt which says "fuck the police" and he carries a pen and pad everywhere he goes. he can recite EVERY hip hop song ever known, off by heart. he has met over 50 well known rappers, and he visits pac and biggies grave everyday. he signs up to every hip hop forum on the internet, and praises every single rapper ever known. this boy, is the true hip hop fan.

I actually understand how Eminem hooks some people who have never heard hip-hop before and totally monopolises them (he does that coz he's so good btw) so they dont even bother checking out other artists of the genre. But you definetely need to check out his peers and legends before him if you are a true hip-hop fan.
