Being yourself and not selling out, that my friends, is a true Hip Hop fan. Wheter it's Emceeing, DJ-ing, Break dancing or Graffiti, it's when you are passionate about it and doing what you define as being yourself, that's Hip Hop.

It's a very complicated topic therefore.

A true hip hop fan must be a person who genuinely loves and lives the lifestyle and cultures of hip hop. Not only the music, all elements of it.

One Mic wrote:da.relapse.lp wrote:Really depends. That's basically like saying a true rap fan listens to only some kinds of music, which discriminates other types.
I'm curious: what's your top 10, in that case then?
I can see what you're saying but check the edit.
- "All lists are subjective, but you can objectify them to a certain degree."
If your top 10 consists of Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Bow Wow, etc and people like that then even though it is an opinion which your entitled to, It's clear that your top 10 does not represent "true" hip-hop...which in turn casts doubt on your crediblity as a "true" hip hop fan.
I'm not saying Nas, Biggie, Jay Z, Rakim, have to be in your top 10 to prove your "true" hip hop fan status but what my original point was meant to illustrate is... you can tell a lot by somebody's top 10 rappers - and don't forget this would be a persons top 10 list of ALL TIME. And I'm sorry but if your top 10 rappers of ALL TIME consist of Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane or Bow Wow then I'm afraid even though it is your personal preference, I challenge that your not a "true" hip hop fan. Which takes me back to the quote
"All lists are subjective, but you can objectify them to a certain degree."

Word up to my previous post.
So One Mic and Wic_Kid: why don't you both list your top 10?
