i can't see them being originated from their childhood nicknames.

Lupe=wassalu, Pe was one of his closests friends. And when he moved away he added that to the Lu, which makes it Lupe. The Fiasco was something he added later on.
Lil' Wayne=Obviously his father's name is Wayne so they nicknamed him Lil' Wayne
Eminem=M&M, which is Marshall Mathers, he used to sign his sketches with M&M as a kid. And people probably started to call him M&M 'cause it's shorter
Jay-Z=Jay-Z's first name was Jazz, 'cause his dad used to play jazz. People called him Jay (J), so he changed it into Jay-Z.
Tupac=His mother gave him that name when he was a little boy.
T.I=probably his initials.

From the top of my head...

jay-z's real name is not jazz, it's Shawn Corey Carter

I ment his first rap name.

Because R&B and pop artists are pussies who show manufactured emotions rather than genuine ones.
You're the one being nitpicky. Rappers aren't the only ones, period.
Besides, if you were a rapper, wouldn't you want your own stage name? Your parents picked your birth name, but now you can have the world know you by any name you choose. Wouldn't that be cool?

I disagree. I turn on pop radio and it's always the same shit: "u my gurl", "shes so beautiful", "im so lonely", "yea shawty"
It's like no one wants to be original anymore.
But old R&B like Al Green and Marvin Gaye, that had real emotion in it.
I stand by my statement. If I'm wrong, I'll always apologize, but I have no respect for 99% of R&B and pop artists.

okay. i can't disagree with this comment. :y:

What do you think about artists like Alicia Keys, John Legend, Robin Thicke, etc. A lot of music on the radio as a whole is pretty much crap, but there are still some artists making meaningful (somewhat) music.

There are exceptions.
For example, Nastasha Bedingfield is a pop artist who makes beautiful, inspirational music. Alicia Keys gets my respect for being extraordinarily talented and standing out from the crowd by being herself.

Plus, she was so damn hot in Smokin Aces... =P~

Just kiddin lol. Naw, really. Alicia Keys has an amazing voice. Unlike Rihanna, with that voice that makes you wish you was born deaf.
