Nas > Jay

It Was Written, Stillmatic and Illamtic are classics.

:y: i completely agree, he is becoming one of my favorites of all time also, i love his flow and lyrics, doesn't have the greatest beat selection though, which I think hurts him at TIMES, not always, :smoking:

You must be bugging if you think Reasonable Doubt is average, I agree that Illmatic > Reasonable Doubt, however, Reasonable Doubt is a classic.

see, i feel so awkward for saying it, i like the message of the songs(d'evils, cashmere thoughts)
and i like the album, deffinitly his best

im just saying i feel that his rhyming isnt that great and everything isnt anything spectacular
especially if you compare him to sumone like Nas

I know what you mean. He's a great lyricist, but his flow... I mean, he can ride a beat , but he does that so slow and kinda boring...

That was from him breaking up with the milk shake bitch

She said he made 100k, and wanted tons of month for child support. Nas came out and said he doesn't make anywhere near that much, and that she's a woman so heartless :smoking:

How could she be so hearless :smoking:

That laid back flow is dope.

Nas is a genius. A fucking genius. He's in my top 3 definitely. He keeps it real, he killed me with his last performance in Poland. "One Mic" with beat by some old guy with a drum - ecstatic.

I don't care about his private life, that's his business. I don't care about Mos Def and that stripper he married, or whoever she was. I don't see why do people even bring this up while talking about the music he makes.. And he makes GOOD music. He said hip hop is dead, but the truth is that he's one of the very few rappers that keep hip hop on life support.

Nas is in my top 5, no doubt.

People keep mentioning Illmatic and how great it was and I know you guys are tired of hearing it, but Illmatic was a straight classic, my 2nd favorite hip-hop album of all time. (As of now.)

Stillmatic was crazy, although several tracks could have been cut from the final release and I personally believed the production could have been taken a notch up, but it was still dope.

It Was Written and God's Son are fantastic albums as well, although they lacked the rawness of his debut and his comeback albums, especially God's Son.

Illmatic is a better overall album than Reasonable Doubt, but the main reason I liked RD was because of his lyrical dexterity and his flow. Dead Presidents (I & II) had multies basically soaked into an ill Ski beat and "Can't Knock the Hustle" was definitely on the Illmatic level, IMO. And saying Reasonable Doubt isn't complex isn't entirely true, looking at some of his schemes in that record. Give all the tracks another full listen with the lyrics and you'll recognize that album's true greatness.

Jay's flow is one of the main reasons he made it so big. :confusion:
Yo, from the first to the last of it; delivery is passionate/
The whole and not the half of it; vocab and not the math of it/
Projectile that them blasted with; accurate assassin shit/
Me and Kweli close like... Bethlehem and Nazareth/

I know, but it just doesnt suit me. I know lotta ppl dont see why is that, but Im a fan of a more faster flow, you know? He kinda draggs his flow way too much IMO. But thats just me. Im sure that there's a great rapper out there who's flow you dont quite like.

I fucking love that freestyle, even though they used parts of their old verses. The beat is one of my favorites by Miilkbone and Big L and Hov both had mad ill verses. :y:
