Am I the only one who thinks Relapse is Em's best album?

Postby OMEGA » Nov 25th, '09, 01:44

Yeah, everytime that I said this to others, they are like wtf are you talking about. I find Relapse to be Eminem's most enjoyable album, and definitely my favorite. I don't know, but there's something about the songs that make them far more catchy than his past stuff. The beats are freakin' awesome (Insane, Stay Wide Awake and Underground especially). From a lyrical standpoint is no slouch either; Dejavu is really great and Beautiful is Lose Yourself quality-esque.

In my opinion: Relapse > Marshall Mathers LP > Slim Shady LP > Eminem Show > Encore

Others feel the same?

BTW, I'm new

I don't like to rank his albums. I love them all. It's like asking a parent who their favorite child is.

Hey man, don't feel bad. My favorite album is Encore. It's an uphill battle to say the least.

Yes, you are the only one or few who thinks this.

My theory is that people who love Relapse are usually young-teens, foreigners (because they bump anything), and people who need to listen to 'shock lyrics' to seem badass.

Yes, Deja Vu and Beautiful are amazing no doubt but Insane is truly a song where Em is obviously desperate to recapture his earlier "shock" image that he had in 1999/2000. Plus the first 4 lines in the song were so predictable/not-clever. And not to mention his accent. Trust me, once your true fans on a site dedicated to you hate your songs because of your accent, something is wrong with the album.

But congrats if you do really enjoy it - I tried to like it because I've been a fan since SSLP when I was in high school but I still prefer Em's songs during 2000-2004 period (songs with true lyrics, told a story, and didn't have him trying to go back to his older style to sell records).

MMLP was easily his best album, IMO.

Relapse was exactly what sputnikmusic said about it. 1/5 of MMLP's quality. It was... plainly lacking. :n:

Let's hope so. Very average.

The Marshall Mathers LP didn't have one bad song on it and either did The Eminem Show. Relapse?

We Made You: This song was just a poppy, trashy song with Eminem finding a way to make fun of as many girls as possible. Awful.
Crack a Bottle: Bad lyrics, slow flow from Em and poor verses from the other two as well. Not an Eminem song.
Old Time's Sake: Awful delivery by Eminem here, caused by the voice. What is a "tyempature"? You can barely even understand what he says at the end either.

I figure those are the givens. Everything else is kind of debate-worthy. The worst song on The Marshall Mathers LP was probably Remember Me? and that'd probably be one of the best on Relapse, if not the best.

Welcome and I think your alone in thinking Relapse is his best...in my opinion I think 3 of his albums are tied (including relapse) Encore being a step down, and TES being a step up

I enjoyed Relapse and I'm not attempting to be 'badass' and I left my teens behind years ago. Did I love the entire cd? No. But I didn't love every song on his previous albums either. Please don't generalize. :tounge2:
