My theory is that people who love Relapse are usually young-teens, foreigners (because they bump anything), and people who need to listen to 'shock lyrics' to seem badass.

Yes, Deja Vu and Beautiful are amazing no doubt but Insane is truly a song where Em is obviously desperate to recapture his earlier "shock" image that he had in 1999/2000. Plus the first 4 lines in the song were so predictable/not-clever. And not to mention his accent. Trust me, once your true fans on a site dedicated to you hate your songs because of your accent, something is wrong with the album.

But congrats if you do really enjoy it - I tried to like it because I've been a fan since SSLP when I was in high school but I still prefer Em's songs during 2000-2004 period (songs with true lyrics, told a story, and didn't have him trying to go back to his older style to sell records).

I enjoyed Relapse and I'm not attempting to be 'badass' and I left my teens behind years ago. Did I love the entire cd? No. But I didn't love every song on his previous albums either. Please don't generalize. :tounge2:

Sorry lady! :zipped:

I was just saying after 5 months of reading comments on the boards. I just found out that kids, who are 13-17 (aka new Em fans), were usually who liked it.

The lirycs on Relapse we're off the hook, he never will get the complexity of Stay Wide Awake

Relapse is a good album, but it's a few notches below his first three major albums.

It's looks flawless in comparison to Encore, though, which is part of the reason why I like it. It's basically the greatest comeback album ever.

i dont no why TES gets to much love on this forum. MMLP and SSLP in my opinion are the best. they are 1a and 1b. TES looses all the humor and crazy lyrics and story telling that came with SSLP and MMLP. its a completely different style i feel and definitely not his best. as for relapse, it does not have that much replay value like sslp mmlp or tes. like Em said, Relapse was for him, not the fans. Relapse to me is a really really shitty version of SSLP. take what you want from this but in the end

Relapse is on par with the Em show... which is funny cuz hip hop heads call that album a new classic!

I remember back in the day when people slated that album, saying how badly Em had fallen from the MMLP!

Maybe in a few years Relapse will looked upon with higher regard, I doubt it though. :(

yeah Stan wasn't even a good story :n:

I agree with that. Stan is an overrated song, I think.

i cant tell if your being sarcastic. I can see where some people think its over rated but when that song came out, everyone was blown away. maybe over time and close to 10 years the story will get boring to you, as does alot of music, but Em went from crazy "i dont give a fuck" attitude in SSLP and MMLP to IMO kind of soft with TES. i dont understand why he keep the crazy lyrics and humor that came with SSLP and MMLP. there is a huge difference between the SSLP MMLP em and the TES em. and the SSLP MMLP em is by far the best and will never be seen again

Omega wrote:Yeah, everytime that I said this to others, they are like wtf are you talking about. I find Relapse to be Eminem's most enjoyable album, and definitely my favorite. I don't know, but there's something about the songs that make them far more catchy than his past stuff. The beats are freakin' awesome (Insane, Stay Wide Awake and Underground especially). From a lyrical standpoint is no slouch either; Dejavu is really great and Beautiful is Lose Yourself quality-esque.

In my opinion: Relapse > Marshall Mathers LP > Slim Shady LP > Eminem Show > Encore

Others feel the same?

BTW, I'm new

:-k Great album :y: but not the best. Probaly comes behind TES & MMLP but definitely in front of Sslp
