Relapse is easily Em's worst album. It has a God-awful theme to it from beginning to end, and 90% of the tracks are throw away. Lyrically, yes -- he delivers, but his content ruins all of his rhymes. And on top of that, his accent on the entire album is asinine. How anybody can vibe to the Arabic Em is absolutely ridiculous.

i don't know if anyone agrees with me on this but... Relapse was his #3 in the list of his albums...

only thing relapse was lacking was content. he was just rapping bout random shit like he used to back in 1998 & 1999... But remember he has said that he recorded relapse for himself. He stated that he was trying to prove to himself that he still has that rapid fire flow and shocking lyrics and multi syllables.

PS: stay wide awake ( kinda sickening song ) but that song was fucking crazy his multi syllables surpassed anything i have heard from him EVER and the flow was just nuts. the accent actually fit the song so perfectly it was like perfect harmony. but of course the lyrics were a bit fucked up.

It seems to me that Marshall can change his voice to whatever he wants if you watch the voodoo shows he actually went from "hello accent" to "kill you no accent" and he was able to sing it just like it was on his album. pretty amazing i should say.

I have a feeling relapse 2 is his album where he proves he can still do what he was doing back in 2000 threw 2002.

justbb09 wrote:i dont no why TES gets to much love on this forum. MMLP and SSLP in my opinion are the best. they are 1a and 1b. TES looses all the humor and crazy lyrics and story telling that came with SSLP and MMLP. its a completely different style i feel and definitely not his best. as for relapse, it does not have that much replay value like sslp mmlp or tes. like Em said, Relapse was for him, not the fans. Relapse to me is a really really shitty version of SSLP. take what you want from this but in the end

SSLP=MMLP>Infinite>TES>Relapse>Encore

SSLP MMLP era is the best Em we ever had.

Menzo wrote:It's hard to say, definitely better than Encore (lyrically). The depth in his lyricism was a huge step forward and was jaw dropping.

And welcome to Tr bud :)

Lyrically he did some crazy stuff, but the content was dumb. It's much more difficult to write an album like the Eminem Show where almost every song is serious and has meaning, rather than writing about random shit like lesbian vegetables. Even one of his best songs on Relapse, Underground, had the potential to be a hit like The Way I Am. Instead he wrote about Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. I do like Underground but it can never be on the same level of another song where he actually combines content with lyrics.

This is the first album em has released ever since u became a big fan, am I right? This seems to be the case for people who haven't followed em throughout his career. I'm not being critical, i'm just saying. The reason you think this is cause it's new material, and it sounds more fresh. But no, it's not his best album imo. MMLP son

well it's his opinion, I know some people who love Relapse and think it's his best album, and they are hardcore fans :unsure: The problems bother most people are the content & accent, but there are still some (minority) are not bothered by the accent at all, and they like the horrorcore content so...

well i have been a fan since MMLP. i was kind of to young and wasnt that much into music when SSLP came out. but to be honest it was 7th grade when i went out and bought MMLP SSLP kid rock and offspring at the same time. Eminem at that time had that SHOCK value and yes im going to say it, b/c he was white he was able to relate to you and me before you even listened to his songs. that being said, there is a clear difference between Eminem in the SSLP MMLP era and everything else. i hate to say it b/c he is my favorite artist ever but he has totally fell off since MMLP. TES is ok at best. i feel that if he didnt waist his time with D12 we would of had a great album following the MMLP.

notice that Devils night is such a great cd. why you ask, b/c that is classic slim shady on it. he got famous, went back to the D and made an album with his boys. and that cd is straight fire. all that energy, humor, lyrical power or whatever you want to call it was on that cd and that was the last time you ever saw it. granted 8 mile is sick but besides that everything changed after the MMLP/ Devils night. i dont no why but it did . so im done with this b/c i realized im just ranting and writing a book but its the truth. the mother fucker is close to 40 and got famous rapping about homosexuals and vicodin(yes i took that from relapse lol). you cant keep that up when your that old. his style changed and its so obvious that em has so much control with his voice that he can make it sound however he wants. thats why it changes with every album. i think he is honestly out of ideas and is just going back on his old shit. which i honelsty like b/c like ive stated b4 his old shit is the best. so i honesty think that R2 will be 1000000 X better then relapse but not as good as the back in the day. it can never be but everyone on this forum keeps wishing. good night and enjoy refill when it comes out b/c i know i probably wont.

lol like you I miss his wit & humor too, but I do think they probably won't come back. He's in a very different place right now.
That's why I think if he can't be Slim Shady anymore, just be Eminem, instead of talking shocked lyric and trying to be funny, he should just write about what's in his head like TES, get shit off the chest. TES is good, not classics like MMLP or MMLP but still good, though it's different but as he's matured, that's the way he should approach.

lol maybe just coincidence that a lot of people love TES are on this forum, like I said TES is different from previous albums, some people like you & me like Slim Shady style (witty) more but some people like Eminem style (serious) more. It just happens :D
