I'm not being critical, i'm just saying. The reason you think this is cause it's new material, and it sounds more fresh. But no, it's not his best album imo. MMLP son

well it's his opinion, I know some people who love Relapse and think it's his best album, and they are hardcore fans  The problems bother most people are the content & accent, but there are still some (minority) are not bothered by the accent at all, and they like the horrorcore content so...

yea i guess. but still, i know alot of ppl who havent even listened to his old shit but think relapse is the best shit hes ever put out. but yea, its all opinion. but i wouldnt b suprised if he became a fan while em was on his hiatus

lol maybe just coincidence that a lot of people love TES are on this forum, like I said TES is different from previous albums, some people like you & me like Slim Shady style (witty) more but some people like Eminem style (serious) more. It just happens :D

how clever

Relapse is not the real Slim Shady (at least to me) :shakehead:

My theory is that people who love Relapse are usually young-teens, foreigners (because they bump anything), and people who need to listen to 'shock lyrics' to seem badass.

Yes, Deja Vu and Beautiful are amazing no doubt but Insane is truly a song where Em is obviously desperate to recapture his earlier "shock" image that he had in 1999/2000. Plus the first 4 lines in the song were so predictable/not-clever. And not to mention his accent. Trust me, once your true fans on a site dedicated to you hate your songs because of your accent, something is wrong with the album.

But congrats if you do really enjoy it - I tried to like it because I've been a fan since SSLP when I was in high school but I still prefer Em's songs during 2000-2004 period (songs with true lyrics, told a story, and didn't have him trying to go back to his older style to sell records).

Well what you say is kind of true but Relapse is also my favorite eminem album, i'm 17 and it's not to seem badass or anything, I just think the album. its way ahead of it's time, the lyricism and flow is incredible so is the production. I love the concept, it's almost like watching a horror movie but it all symbolizes Eminem's struggle with drugs and all the messed up things that have happened to him. He might aswell become a serial killer. I prefer he doesn't use the accent but i doesn't bother me at all. I think 3 a.m. is amazing. the only track i wish wasn't on there is Bagpipes From Baghdad, because is just wasn't on par with the rest album but I still rate it 10/10. and yea SSLP is GREAT but it's my least favorite eminem album, The Eminem Show is my 2nd, MMLP is my 3rd, Encore is my 4th(I was young and I loved how he could rap about shit and still be interesting haha, but I know it's his weakest) But there's nothing wrong loving with Relapse

You know what's funny is that I got all the metal heads and headbangers in my area bumping Relapse. These are people who never even gave rap a chance. That serial killer shit appeals to us on the metal side. I convinced probably about a dozen people to buy Relapse 2. Shit, I went to a Hatebreed concert and fucking skinheads were blasting Relapse in the parking lot. Trust me, Relapse is pretty big in the metal community. It's opened up a new audience. So Relapse is more important than you think. It has a crossover appeal into extreme music, not just rock.

(Insideman)Nice explanation. Visually you can see Relapse as a really dark horror movie; just close your eyes, take something to help you concentrate if u need 2 and imagine some of the things as pictures in ur head.

maybe his best lyrical album and a flawless flow, but content sucks besides Beautiful. Its great to entertain fans by showing off the talent, but what got him fans is making music that people relate to.

I just wrote a post explaining how the metal crowd relates to Relapse. Yo, you hip hop heads gotta remember to show the metal crossover fans some love. I mean, like we're not alienated enough. We're Eminem fans the same as y'all.

It's a good album, not his best for me. I think without the accent, relapse would be better.

But Déja vu is one of his best songs imo

actually he got most of his fans after The Slim Shady LP dropped, which was because of the psycho shit which was novel back then but now it's old & stale.

still sslp had tons of songs for people to vibe with. not literally in every sense though. for example 97 bonnie and clyde, no one is going to relate to killing thier wife and tossing her in the ocean while with thier daughter, but love troubles, everyone. the feelings of a song/album more so than the words. rock bottom, if i had, just dont give a fuck, still dont give a fuck, guilty conscience...

storys, metaphors, humor, anger, depression are the feelings on the tracks which people relate to. relapse was the psycho shit, but basically the storyline was a serial killer/ drug addict killing and raping for the fun of it. Em never gave the listener the reason he was writing songs about those things. at least Encore had tons of meaning behind songs. Relapse was just eminem showing people his skills.
