Their knowledge of Hip Hop doesn't go past Interscope.

This post is for ppl who think some of Em fans dont listen to other hip hop. Okay, so..

And what exactly is true knowledge of hip hop, huh? What past tells us? I have to consider Illmatic or Ready To Die the best albums cuz that WAS considered the best back in old school? I dont listen to what past tells me, I listen to what I find good for ME. And if that doesnt include some of the "best" classic albums YOU guys listen to, I couldnt give a fuck less. Just cuz I dont listen to Chino XL, Crooked I, Joe Budden etc doesnt mean I dont listen to other TRUE rap artists. And Im not just talkin about me, Im talkin about the way how some of you guys look at these things.

Plus, I reject sayin that IT and Vinnie Paz are the best storytelling rappers. There's this rapper from Serbia, Marchelo, who's a fuckin genius (the guy in my avatar). His storytellings are one of the best rap songs ever made IMO. He's only 25 years old, 3 amazing albums. The guy finished college and wrote a book that was a bestseller, and his vocabulary is so large that Canibus aint got shit on him (but intelligent vocabulary, not any crappy space terms) Plus, his multis...Wow. No one has such killer multies or internal rhymes like he does, not even Big Pun or Em combined.
Are you familiar with his catalogue? Do you listen to this (IMO) biggest lyricist who could eat Biggie, Em, Jay-Z and Rakim for a fuckin breakfast? I dont think any of you do...

This might sound stupid cuz you couldnt understand him (he aint rappin in English), but I dont think a LANGUAGE should take away his right to be called one of the greatest.

I respect you guys. Zu, da.relapse, Anon, Coleon. And your knowledge of all good hip hop thats out there. You surely are smart when it comes to these thing. But sayin that someone dont know hip hop just cuz he doesnt listen to what YOU call great... That aint right. Not even when its comin from you guys.

I rest my case. :y:

Why are you mad? It aint like I said that you are in that 80%...

And you, Wic_kid, do not represent all the eminem fans. It is a fact that a lot eminem fans don't even listen to rap besides eminem's music.

It's true I do not firmly defend Eminem for the "Best Rapper Ever" title, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate his music. Shit, no one wouldn't have either bothered googling "eminem forum" or something like that, if they never liked his music in the first place. :y:

Also, when people say that if you don't like Illmatic, you don't know true hip-hop, I think that's bullshit. But that doesn't mean that you can't at least acknowledge it's impact or realize some factors about it that make it stand out from the typical hip hop community. IMO, even "The Infamous" is more appealing to me than Illmatic, at the moment (likely to change), but I would agree that Illmatic is a better album.

Other people's opinions should NOT have an impact on your music taste.

You sound a little desperate in your post to prove old school rap is overrated. If it's overrated to you, then it's all good. No one is going to physically force you to like that type of music, if it isn't your style, so why the anger? It's just someone else's opinion, not yours, so it shouldn't affect you, to be honest.

But I do agree some people are purposely acting like they like some artist/album, even though they actually believe otherwise.

Seriously, people, if you don't like an album, just say it. Don't pretend to like it just to gain respect from people who listen to a variety of music. But don't just hate on it, like Evan C. or Evil-Genius. Just say that it isn't your type. This not only applies to "classic" albums, but people that are generally "hated", as well, like Lil Wayne.

Please, hating Lil Wayne's music doesn't mean you are educated in hip hop.

^ Cut all the hating bullshit out. ^

I respect your opinion, Wic_Kid, and I think this thread is very necessary. :y:

P.S.: I don't purposely downplay Eminem's skills, if you thought so. :b:

@ da.relapse
Naw, man. That post wasnt specificaly aimed at you. I think of you as a cool dude, lately more realer than ever :flower: . Plus, I dont think old school is overrated. Sure as hell is better than 90% of that (c)rap nowadays. But I do think lotta classic albums from that time are just too overhyped.

@ Zu, Im not mad, I just wanted to get some shit of my chest. And AGAIN, you're sayin this shit:

It is a fact that a lot eminem fans don't even listen to rap besides eminem's music.

How do ppl even determine this?

It's all good. :flower:

There's a formula to determine a Stan who listens to other hip hop. :confusion:
Yo, from the first to the last of it; delivery is passionate/
The whole and not the half of it; vocab and not the math of it/
Projectile that them blasted with; accurate assassin shit/
