An Idea: Shady and Mixtapes

Postby Ice_Scarred » Nov 28th, '09, 20:52

We know Em hates Mixtapes for whatever reason but wouldn't it be a good idea for Slim to drop a mixtape or 2 before R2 or inbetween? Mixtapes are one of the best outlets in Hip-Hop to generate buzz and keep fans held over with new material. The Mixtape game is crazy right now and Em should drop it a visit.

I'm not talking about fan-made mixtapes either. I mean OFFICIAL mixtapes with a DJ hosting and it being presented by the Shady camp. Em could just get Whoo Kid to host his joint. Whoo Kidd is huge in the Mixtape circuit, real talk.

Lets say Em doesn't want to put in the work to make a mixtape.....he could just put up some un-released shit and package it. Throw in a couple of recent freestyles or at least a couple new joints he knows won't make R2 into the mix.

Better yet, what if he just took the Original Relapse 2 and re-packaged it as a mixtape? I mean if Em dropped at least 2 mixtapes it wouldn't hurt. Oh and what about King Mathers? Shit, if thats not completely destroyed I wouldn''t mind that being released. With Mixtapes he could keep fans held over and make them hungrier for more shit. Em just leaves us starved for the most part lol.

Just an idea.
2-3 Slim mixtapes for 2010 would would be fire.

Eminem doesn't drop mixtapes, because he's a perfectionist, supposedly.

He only drops what he sees fitting for fans to hear and which does not decrease his respect. Just like Dr. Dre, all his unused tracks go to waste somewhere in a machine. What's sad is he fails to realize that some of his released material is equally whack. :(

Yeah, he is at at certain point in his career and he wants his music to represent that. His quality control is paramount and he wont continually leak songs to dilute and transform his image. He does things in a more methodical manner which does keep people intereted. I agree with ur last point; how can he have a vaultful of songs and then release TMB WTF?

It has its pros and cons to possess a monopoly of what music is released and what is not.

Unlike some artists who drop mixtapes every month with 20 tracks on each. Workaholics.

pretty much the reason hes dropping refill...same concept, just less songs...he said he never agreed with 50 dropping so many songs b4 an album...he believes in making the people wait for the greatest shit...i agree its good enough...thats why after al these years after all the different rap styles he still has all his fans and still liked tremendously

I think the bottom line is there is too much money to be made with his albums.

and with the set up of his albums right now, if he dropped a mixtape, it would be considered one of his albums.....

Thats what im talkin about. The Re-Up isnt really considered a mixtape. Its a mixtape turned album. If you look at the history of mixtapes...their free.

If you have original beats, with verses....and you sell the album in stores. Thats an album, not a mixtape.

If eminem did a "no ceilings" type of thing, where he rapped over beats and just let it be for download....he would lose out on all that money, and it would still be considered an LP...thats what i was getting at.
