I am from the UK bro. Watched the vids and yeah he is all aggreasive on the mic but lyrically he not saying much man. I see this in all the grime MC's I hear to be honest. Compared to the best UK rappers devlin is way behind man!!

I dont really hear any sick quotables when he spits.

I Hate the first vid post One Mic (not London City) but the Movement DVD, he hardly got started before idiots started shouting. To be honest, searching through ypoutube and both your links, to me he seems another bog-standard grime MC, all aggressive on the hype shit (yawn) but more simple emotional bars for more emotional songs...There's a million mc's like him in the uk, nothing outstanding

I like how the gentle beat contrasts with the more aggressive delivery.

These are all good. I'm surprised at how mature his music is lyrically. Particularly Community Outcast, which is great social commentary.
I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between hip hop and grime. Devlin is categorized as grime. What exactly is it that makes his music fall into the grime genre?
