At that point in time, yes because his mind state was different

but now that he's in a clearer mind state, he knows he's capable of making better music

I just hope he knows that we're not happy with that shitty accent. Its okay to use it in one or two songs, but in 70% of the album...Naw, Em. I wanna hear you real fuckin voice.

He wasn't comfortable coming back in after being gone for so long, so he disguised his voice with that accent, but on songs when he was out of his drug period (Beautiful, Deja Vu) he used his normal voice.

I don't expect much, if any, accent on R2. Refill is a different story though

Beautiful is from 2005.
