honestly, I think Em wins this easily

Wow. Some of these albums should not have been chosen and some not on the list should have been chosen. Mos Def released a decent album, nothing too special though. Flo Rida doesn't deserve a spot for obvious reasons. Common's recent album was a disappointing pop-crossover. Eminem's Relapse was fucking annoying in the fact that removing the accent would have made a huge difference. Q-Tip came pretty nicely; I liked the production a lot, like his old ATCQ days.

Why isn't Raekwon and Jay-Z in there? I don't like Jay-Z's album much, but it deserves to be on there, IMO. Raekwon, without a fucking doubt, deserves to be there. Best Wu-Tang album since Supreme Clientele. :n:

ur crazy if u think relapse shouldnt have made it. Blueprint and cuban linx didnt make the date deadline. i would like to know 5 albums better than relapse?

Common - UMC - 211,000
Flo Rida - R.O.O.T.S. - 223,000
Eminem - Relapse - 1,500,000
Mos Def - Ecstatic - 30,000 first week
Q-Tip - The Renaissance - 35,000 first week

Has there ever been such a discrepancy like this ? :confusion:

Last year 3 of the albums went platinum and the other 2 went gold

this goes to show that sales dont mean anything in order to win a grammy

Pass the cutoff date. Eligible albums were release September 30 2008 - August 31 2009. Both of those albums were released in September 09

Aw, fuck.

Hm... 5 albums? You mean this year, right? I don't listen to that much new school hip hop anymore, but this:

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II
Mos Def - The Ecstatic
MF Doom - Born Like This
Brother Ali - Us
Slaughterhouse - Slaughterhouse

All of them are consistent for the most part. Only the Raekwon, Ali, and Slaughterhouse really surprised me, but all of them were at least decent.

Relapse was lyrically complex, but delivery wise: :shakehead:
Yo, from the first to the last of it; delivery is passionate/
The whole and not the half of it; vocab and not the math of it/
Projectile that them blasted with; accurate assassin shit/
Me and Kweli close like... Bethlehem and Nazareth/
