I still don't see why so many people disliked this album.

Sure, it wasn't as good as many of his others, but what's so wrong with it?

Let's look at it lyrically

Rick Ticky Toc was fucking amazing, still one I listen to regularly

And even Rain Man and My First Single are arguably listenable.
Not even to mention the bonus tracks.

The amount of hate for Encore with the amount of praise for Relapse is what disturbs me. Thankfully, Relapse is starting to phase from those who thought it was a good album (only because it was NEW Eminem material) to the fact that it's Eminem's worst solo album effort to date.

Encore has so many bright spots, many of which were mentioned by the OP. Tracks like Yellow Brick Road, Mockingbird, and Like Toy Soldiers truly dig deep into the psyche of Eminem at that time -- which I can stand to appreciate a thousand times more than a track like 3 a.m. or Buffalo Bill that says nothing.

Let's also not forget that even though tracks like Ass Like That and something like, Rain Man, were obviously not his best tracks...again, AT THE TIME they were something different from Eminem, and initially got people amused. Fast forward five years later to today, he tries the exact same formula with We Made You or a track like My Mom, and it leaves everyone not amused -- just pissed off. Going back to being old Marshall again isn't difficult. If only he wasn't so damn stubborn.

It had a FEW good songs. It was a major step down from MMLP and TES. When you hear your favorite rapper literally taking a shit and having diarhhea all over his chorus you know something is fucking wrong. shits annoying

the track list before it was 'changed' is irrelevant. the bonus tracks were somewhat decent but they leaked over a year before Encore was released. this gave him over a year to come up with something to replace these tracks & what he came up with was garbage.

no matter how you slice a piece of shit... in quarters, in halves... it's still going to be fecal matter, isn't it?

oh, maybe I'm confused, I always thought the album leaked like about a month early so they decided to put new songs on so that more people would buy it. so did the tracklist change? I guess I can just replace songs with the bonus songs to get the same effect anyway
