Both. I agree he could be more creative with his music. But he's still relevant. Diddy is relevant and he hasn't put out a record in years. I'm talking about popular culture. 50 is still relevant.
50 is not relevant. Diddy is not relevant. Now Drake is relevant. Wayne is relevant. It's too obvious

You are out of it IMO. How is Diddy not relevant? How is 50 Not relevant? Please explain. There on the radio, the tv, every gossip site and at damn near every award show. Movies, Records, and Business ventures, and endorsements. If that's not relevant tell me what is, pleeaase.
They're not relevant because nobody's checking for them. They can attend all the awards show they want but it doesn't matter when people don't give a fuck about them, if anything that just means they try to be outgoing and stay active to their fans. I HONESTLY can't understand how can you say 50 is even close to relevant when his album is flopping harder than a rock
And before you say record sale doesn't mean anything, please, fact proves the opposite. Wayne sells, Drake sells (his EP sold more than 50's album), Kayne sells, Jay-Z sells, Em sells. Em 's relevancy is only behind Drake, Wayne, Jay-, Kanye now, because they're all over the hit features while he's not. Just ask LilWayne4life, even a hater like him can tell you that

Sales don't mean shit. It doesn't, in any way, say how popular a person is these days. AND pop culture isn't just music, its CULTURE. 50 has stayed relevant since he came out. He's getting looked over more, no doubt and he isn't building buzz like he use to but he's still relevant. Diddy has his shows on MTV and VH1 that were breaking records, and clothing lines that are damn near a billion dollar companies. He's at least produced two number one albums (if you're that stuck on chart success) in the past two years. And like I said before, there all over the place. Every site, every station, every channel. Diddy musically, we won't know until he puts out his record next year. Diddy is getting played on the radio right now. 50 is too. He still selling records isn't he, not as much as he use to, but he still is. If 50 isn't relevant just because of sales then Em isn't either. He sold 3 million ww in 8 months or so but that's nothing compared to the 20 million he did on TES. You don't base all of a persons success of sales alone.

That was my point. Was "I Love College" a hit? How many records did asher sale? Was "Day N Nite" a hit? How many records did Cudi sale? I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SALES. Yes, they are musicians so at the end of the day if they aren't putting out good records they will become irrelevant, there is no argument there. BUT being relevant isn't just all based on that. Popluar culture. Justin Timberlake hasn't put out a record in years, he's still relevant. Halle Berry hasn't done a movie all year, she's still relevant. Do you get what I am saying? Kim Kardashian hasn't done anything but she is relevant. That is Pop culture. Kanye didn't put out a record this year, does that make him irrelevant? NO!

Amadeo wrote:um, who gives a fuck about 'relevance'? lady gaga is the most relevant & popular in music today, & she's fucking terrible. i hate her & i hate her music.

Amadeo wrote:so you're saying the relevant artists are the attention whores who will jump on any song, no matter how bad it is, & feature in it to get some exposure. yeah, that sounds about right![]()
kanye west fucking sucks. Lil Wayne sucks. what a coincidence

"I Love College" went platinum, it was a hit. But his buzz died out after the album release.
Justin Timberlake hasn't put out SOLO project in years, but he jumps on many hit features (Dead & Gone, Love Sex Magic..), that's the same with Wayne, Kayne, they didn't have any SOLO hit this year but they're pretty much on everybody's songs. Kayne got nominated for 6 Grammys this years, ALL from features. In fact, collab is what keeps everybody relevant these days as it help artists to branch out their fanbase.
And don't talk movie stuff here, it's irrelevant to topic. Judging relevancy in movie field is totally different than music field.
The movie stuff is relevant to this topic. ITS POP CULTURE. I said that 30 times. Pop culture. I'm not just talking about music because music isn't all of what Pop culture consist of. Thats why its called Popular Culture!!
There's a reason we have separated awards for movie and music you know.

GaGa maybe the best mainstream pop star that come across in recent years.
Disco Stick is one of the worst songs i've heard in recent years.
