Eminem vs. Underground issue

My buddy is convinced that all Underground Rap is way better than Eminem. This is even after I show him numerous amounts of articles including the one the other day, "Decade of Dominance". He says Eminem "is not talented", and Eminem "is not even close to the best rapper". Now that's saying something.

He also claims that because he is mainstream, that is why he isn't good. Mainstreamers apparently "don't have talent" and "are shit". He says people who listen to mainstream are "retards". This meaning that most of US and most of the World are "retards", which I disagree with.

Is there anyway to counteract this issue? He's claimed to listen to all Eminem songs (from his albums), and he still says he is garbage. What should I say?

I've said this, and he says, "all he talks about is his drug addictions, his mom and wife". Which is somewhat true, but only for Relapse mostly. I told him to listen to The Refill and he says that it is awful.

Your friend must not know that Eminem used to be the best underground MC there was out there, once upon a time. Also, anyone who doesn't think Eminem is talented is just ignorant. Even his detractors acknowledge that he's an incredible talent.

Your friend is just retarded when it comes to good music. Nothing will change his mind until he's ready to accept mainstream isn't always a bad thing.

When I say that mainstream isn't a bad thing, he just turns and has that look on his face like: Wow, he didn't just say that. And just says "Yes it is son. Underground is way better".

I feel the EXACT same way about rock.

All mainstream rock is fucking horrible, but the underground punk shit I live for. Saosin, coheed...shit like that. hell yeah.

I HATE when my friends try and tell me eminem is wack and garbage just because he's mainstream, it makes them sound so ignorant though lol.

as for the advice, i just wouldn't even bother to try to persuade your friend, who cares if he doesnt like em, not EVERYONE likes him lololol. just be glad your not as closed minded towards your music as your hater friends
